Hip hop that is NOT about guns, bitches, bling, and disrespect. Live instrumentation, and melodic progression really enhance my enjoyment. I'm familiar with De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, J5, DJ shadow, DLS vs Scroobius Pip, Rza's solo stuff (and the Wu Tang Clan in general) and a few others. Any suggestions? :)
:D of course :D how would something be uplifting if not in this way? i have not yet seen a monologue that, in a philosophically/logically plausible way assures you of life being good. what is uplifting is usually quite emotional and (german:) soberly reflected, nonsense.
Looking at your youtube link this is probably not what you are looking for (not melodic or live instruments), but you might find these newcomers interesting because they clearly try to recreate the style of De La Soul, Outkast, Jurassic 5 and similar bands:
Not as good as the originals, I think the "nerd" attitude feels a bit artificial and they somehow seem more gimmicky and not as relaxed and confident as the originals, but they still pull off a good sound and are decent rappers.
