i propose a clan tourney.

until such a time when clan control is a part of lobbys and what not there will be no agreements on what a clan should do and there is no way anyone will be able to enforce anything. being honest i dont think any "pledges" or "arrangements" will be kept such as the one clan only rule.

im just gunna lay down what im gunna enforce in GBC.

-one account (no smurfing at all ever) unless a good reason is given.
-no impoliteness to others without humorous intent (trolling does not come under humorous) or provocation.
-play the game for fun. winning is nice but not necessary.
-contribute to the spring community in a positive way

Imo lobby support for clans is a feature that could be kinda nice but wouldnt really give much advantage compared to current system. Also clan affiliations should be part of the nick, its always been like that in all online games.

To make clans competitive, you need something to compete at. If there was a league or something where anyone could only play for 1 clan, then players could keep their membership but would have to choose a "main" clan for that.

Trying to restrict everyone to 1 clan for good wont work, mostly anyone who is in several right now wont agree to it.

All this rules talk seems a bit silly for such a small community - how many competitive clans would there be, anyway? Although, [ ] for group of friends who just want to play together and _ _ for competitive clans - so they don't stack in the same team in random games - makes perfect sense. Clan battles are trivial to balance anyway.

yeah well people confuse us because we tend to either win very hard or lose very hard, but they think we are serious because we determine what we want the outcome of the game to be before it starts and then enforce it. Trust me losing is difficult when trolling your enemy causes them all to self d.


also forest i joined the GREAT BALLS CLAN under the condition I could remain in my other 50 or so clans. >:(

i dont care how many clans you are in.

i do care about how many accounts you have however.
/rename is acceptable

and less of the trolling you get accused of although admittedly i have never witnessed you to troll i have only witnessed you getting misunderstood.

did some thinking about this the other day

(btw count in at least one [Mr] team for the tourney)

... a database / autohost combined solution that can be completed with the current spring server technology (i assume)

have an external page for a "clan database". use the existing spring stats (licho balance value for instance) to supplement the information on the page and make it interesting to look at; i can supply this part of this hypothetical project (would need my hand to be held as far as grabbing the statistical information from the people who own said info, but as they are part of the community, im sure that would be easy enough)

TASclient has webpage support obviously; so this could even be integrated into the client as an addon or option or something

players will log onto the clan site, and apply for / leave clans. vet star players can create clans, and only vet star players can administrate a clan (ie. be the leader, kick / invite members)

report games etc on the site, either automatically or manually, for e-peen and e-cred and rubbing it in peoples faces. run tournament brackets directly from said site.

unofficial clans can still exist for the sake of balance .. using [ ] tags will still work on autohosts for instance...

however, having registered clans would add more in terms of types of balance... a "crbalance" for instance, would only honor registered clans in the autobalance

you could also have an option that would kick a player from a battle if he tried to join using a registered clans tag, but was not himself registered (would squash the clan smurfing and name changes that effect balance)

in fact, you wouldn't even need to wear a tag per se; as long as you were registered to a clan in the database, the balancer would see that you are, and balance you accordingly.

with this idea you could still have clans like [lol] that exist only for silliness and fun, as well as the -serious- clans that some of us want. feel free to pick the idea apart; i wouldn't be able to do it by myself anyways, i'd need help

anyways just an idea

whilst i seriously disagree with the "only vet star" stuff. the rest sounds good. but it would be a lot of work and I doubt it would be used so much.

i think we should first try to get more people on spring.
no this isnt the same old story weve all heard a million times from various heretics that claim they can increase people by x%

clans often form great teams together and can accomplish great feats.
look at savage battle for newerth the EvO clan.
and age of empires fan patch.

why establish rules when we know they wont be upheld. and when we dont even have a large enough clan base (or player base) to appreciate it. its like deciding the type of pitch a sport should use when the sport has never been played.

lets get our noggins together. fill in the pot holes. spread the word. lets face it, you'll never find a community like this you have to be told where it is.

Should definitely enforce some kind of rule in order to establish a clan though. Having one clan per player really is a fail system.

[CN][teh]Zydox or something like that...

I would assume that the only thing which needs to be fixed is so that the lobby software and autohosts will honor it...

well for example, [lol] is a clan that is used as needed. No one regularly uses the tag, but rather it is a service. Tag is just used to defend the lulz.

I'm more likely to do more in regards to clans if clans start playing clan games. BD and I have discussed clan ladders on and off for a while as well.
