Since we have this nice new forum for clans Let's make real use of it.
ATM,We have no official lobby clan support, not even user profiles that have minimal defenses versus smurfing(not trying to blame anyone).

I propose we have clan guidlines.
Obviously nobody is gonna moderate them but there aren't many of us so we can just agree to be nice and clan leaders can try and make sure their clan abides by the guidelines.

We can agree on a few basic, fun guidelines that will allow ,perhaps, for a more competitive(did I just use a naughty word?) atmosphere.

I propose having,in this sub-forum,a thread about clan guidelines.
I also propose as the first guideline that each player in spring would only be in one clan regardless of how many smurfs or accounts he has.
So,only one clan tag per player.
This of course does not prevent from anyone to join channels of other clans or making users that don't bare any clan tags.

Well i guess this thread is already that but just to make it official that it would be good to have a thread about guidelines for clans.

Spring needs proper clan support.

Before we have some sort of clan league or clan ladder, some sort of competition, clans arent too much good for other than teaming up in pub games no matter how detailed rules youd have.

I agree with the clan support but not the "not being in more than 1 clan" bit.

Is the chat lobby/lobby server coded from scratch or is it based upon IRC, &c? If so, we could restrict people's /rename's to [a-zA-Z0-9_^], disallowing square brackets. If they were to be a clan member - invited via a web interface or the clan founder - the server would prepend [ClanName] to their name.

There should be a nice integrated system where a player can see a list of existing clans, apply to join a clan, register their own clan, and so on.

Players who want to join a clan would send an requesting application to the clan founder or accept an invite they have received.

Clans would use a 3 Letter/Number tag which is used to represent which clan people are in. The tag would be unique and would be displayed as a separate entity along with Country and Rank. It would not be part of the username.

When registering a clan, a unique channel with the clan name would be registered automatically and any member in the clan would have that clan's channel added to their autojoin list of channels.

There should be status' within the clan such as Founder, Staff and Members. Each with different authorities which would modifiable by the founder.

I could go on but I think you get the point by what I mean by "Clan Support".

Lobby support is complicated and is a big deal...The first issue is the fact smurfing is so easy..
Until we have this clan support(probably in the distant future) I still propose having some guidelines.
The reason i proposed each player being in only one clan is cause otherwise the whole spirit of being in a clan is completely broken..
ATM even if we wanted there can be no competitive clanning cause most players are in several clans..

I know that usually trying to get many to agree on something or to see something in the same light is very hard but maybe this time we can pull it off and actually unanimously agree on something that might be beneficial without some authority making us keep ourselves in line?
I know its easier if someone just decides and forces his way through the lobbies(like one of the lobby devs) and than we don't have to discuss or agree on anything but this is not gonna happen any time soon so lets do it ourselves.
There is no real harm in being only in 1 clan and it might, not guaranteed, generate some motivation, after a while, for clan matches..

My first proposal, which still stands,is one clan per player.
My second one is each clan would use brackets or "_" though brackets are preferable cause lobbies can already recognize them(just to agree and make this official).
My third proposal is that every clan, meaning a user or users using [] or _ to divide their name would have a proper channel.

what the hell only 1 clan per player? Thats bs, unless each person can be multiple players at once.

Im fervently against this. Clan rules are against my lifestyle.

Gota is right something needs to be formalised - it is too easy to change your name as though you are in a clan... not that I have ever done that to annoy anybody. . Xerio. Much.

What are the options?

fuck off with 1 clan bullshit.

I belong to several and i use clans as groups of friends and not something serious.

really this one point has made me rage enough to boohoo this whole thing.

Spring clans have never been serious, and they never will.

Just stop.

stop the stopper, u have several accounts and why dont allow player to be in more than one clan (but it will show just one tag, e.g. [CoX]Samson and not [CoX][CoW][RoX][SiN]Samson)

I see the dilemma...why not make 2 groups than.
[] wil be used by clans that consider themselves competitive and are interested in playing clan matches while _ will be used for "social groups"?

no, not unless you convince all autohosts and lobbies to balance according to _

also, i use [] to show how silly everyone is for being "competitive". I like to gather a bunch of smurfs and use tags like [lol] to face "OMFGSRSLYGUYZWTF" clans and show them that lulz raeps pros. Spectate any game with me and noruas in it (usually smurfing as [Sin] with lowercase n) and see what I mean.

Plus the pros are using _ now because they realize that spring is a bunch of noobs anyway and its more fun to be balanaced against clan mates than with them. Only people that dont seem to realize this is SoS/PYB, which just means i put on my rape face.
