SpringDownloader just keeps getting better and better! The latest update is great. Widgets do take a long time to load on the tab though (over a minute) - is it supposed to be that way?
Yes, its because of new feature that reads lua and allows you to set configs for each mod. However very bad soldier is working on this and it should be possible to improve this.
Licho was so kind to do a new release of Spring Downloader. Since most changes are related to the widget module I have the honour this time to annouce it:
I told you about this before, but never got to fix it. Spring Downloader crashes instantly whenever I try to use it. Tried diff versions altogether and still crashes
You never provided enough details. So your report is worthless.
Crashed how? What it displayes? When it happens? As a minimum send springdownloadererrors.txt Also make sure you have prerequisites - namely .NET 2.0 (or newer). This only applies to win xp.
When I say crash, I mean it just comes up with "Spring Downloader has stopped working..." every time I try to open it.
Was working fine until I did something which I don't know what which then broke Spring Downloader. By system can run it fine, it must be some sort of file breaking or I've enabled something that conflicts with it?
I suspect SD was not able to find a writable data directory. Should not be the case since SD runs in admin mode. Does it ask for elevated rights when starting? Maybe check if you have write permissions in your "My Documents\My Games\Spring" folder or force write permissions for your whole spring folder in the folder properties. Just a guess...
i have the same problem with the exact same error log windows 7 32 bit i tried blowing the permissions wide open for every spring-related folder my uac is already off, i use the built in admin account right click, run as admin, crash open tasclient, crash, but lobby still works fine

Yeh, I tried setting permissions but they just set back to default after I applied them...
using SD 1.4.1.0. i downloaded some mods with Rapid, amongst them was CA stable and BA 7.11. CA continued downloading even after 100%, for like 30 minutes or so, after which i shut SD down. now when starting spring or the lobby, i can select these mods, but i have no idea where they are (the archives). i guess they are somehow split over various files? i am not sure what of it is SD, but my spring data-dir is relatively messy now.
i will just list up all the stuff. i am sure it is not all from SD, but i feel a lot of it is (~/.spring/):
luaui/widgets/cmd_actionfinder.lua i did not place this there manually, and all the other widgets are under: LuaUI/Widgets/ where they should be.
SDCache this is fine as i know that this IS from SD just by looking at the name. it would be nice if you could change it to cache/SD, as in future spring versions, path caches will be under cache/paths, and spring lobby will probably use cache/something dir too. This is meant only for stuff that, if deleted, does not affect the user more then having to wait for recaching/redownloading here and there.
packages as i get it, this is meant for all kind of stuff, eg. maps and mods. the problem i have here is with the content. i have some files like c8c74d288a3b7000638d5bd8e02292bb.sdp and one named selected.list, which seems to come from SD-Rapid. i assume that the .sdp files are the mods i use through Rapid. the problem i see there, is that i do not know which is which, and for configuring AAI for example, i need to create a config file with the archive name of the mod -> can not do.
pool no idea what this is from, unitsync? SD? contains dirs from 00 till ff, containing files like: 00c06b191973c300fb9e37d5d2145f.gz and 58ba5fd7679d6fbc4d7ddaddfa6650.gz
temp contains files like 0042anqz.ljs and 3jlfzn7v.zrz. .. what is that?

I get this bug too. It is probably some bug with Mono's WebClient. Everything works fine if you click the X after it is done.

Just a relic of SD coming from (case insensitive) windows. Should be a simple fix.

Yes, packages are the mods you download through rapid. They are just index files though. All the content is stored in pool. If your config files depend on the Archive name, then they are flawed. You should somehow be using the mod name, ie "Balanced Annihilation V7.11". I hope this is possible for you. Depends already work this way.

As mentioned above, pool contains all the content for your installed mods. It is the index + pool system that allows mods to share content and be updated incrementally.
ahh i see, thanks! well.. non of "my" projects uses the archives name, but makes sense what you say there. i guess i should change this for AAI, and maybe even stop giving the archive names out to AIs, and only allow fetching name and version.
shouldn't selected.list be somewhere else, as packages is read by spring, and this is only for SD?
maybe add README.txt files into these dirs, which explain how it works in about the words you used in your post.
what about temp (just saw it has the same modified date as packages so i guess its from SD too) and SDCache?
