The new and awesome (and totally useless feature for me) of the new version of the tasclient uses IE to access the news page, which is completely outrageous for me, personally. I have IE firewalled, but staring at a blank page is not very convenient too.
Could anyone please tell me how to: 1) DISABLE that feature, I do not need it, and it is horrendously annoying, I could not find anything in the options. 2) FORCE Tasclient to use Fifrefox instead of IE. 3) Switch back to an older version of the TASclient.
Atm using Springlobby, starting to like its simplicity.

Thank you kindly.
Protip to the people who develop this shit:
Either include an option to disable it or don't include it.
I'm using vista, and it's opening the links in Chrome just fine for me. I'm betting you're probably missing an obscure default-browser-claiming-config-thing on your system somewhere. There's probably dozens of places where the "default browser" configuration is stored, and whatever configuration action you performed to set it missed one.
However, the TASClient news window is buggy for me (and hard to find - I was looking for a tab, not the little arrow thing) - when it opens, half the links aren't clickable, rollovers don't work, and I can't scroll. If I alt-tab to another app and back, it works.
That webpage, useless as it might be, loads very quickly for me.
I'm more concerned about the apparent lack of error handling in TasClient. It crashes almost every day for me, and leaves SpringDownloader running. I tend to hibernate my system with the lobby running and this is making it crash more frequently. However, if the error handling was correct, it should not crash even under circumstances like these.
"über düber fatal error!! cannot find firefox.exe! shutting down the client and rebooting computer! sorry but you cant play games because you dont have firefox! *Get FireFox logo here!*"
o.O
i could imagine Satirik made that if he implemented your idea.... =D
Well.. it's not so much a matter of what browser gets opened when you click a link.. it's rather that the IE engine is used to render at all (inside TASclient)!
its kinda stupid to even use HTML rendering in such small thing which you could easily render with customized win32 buttons or whatever makes rectangle...

Tasclient isnt being developed any more. Spring lobby works good on linux and has a really good autodownloader, but fails on windows iirc. AFlobby was cool, but hasnt had a release in a long time... So really the only thing I can recommend for you is to play spring on linux with spring lobby.
