Using read-write data directory: /Users/bstone/.spring/
Using read-only data directory: /opt/local/share/games/spring/
Scanning: /opt/local/share/games/spring/base

Scanning: /Users/bstone/.spring/mods
there are your dirs

And "/Users/bstone/.spring/infolog.txt" should exist, too. If not, there is a bug.

Yeah it's there. The OS won't look inside of hidden folders, like .spring.

So, in which of those folders should I place the folder zk.sdd ?

Games usually come packed as .sd7 files but since some time there also are download system that download a game as multiple small files. (faster when updating)

So I typed in:
Well, that did SOMETHING cause my terminal is going nuts! I'll post back in a bit to see if it works.
svn co = svn check out. In case you dont know, svn is some thing where multiple people can work on the same project over the internet.
So basically that will just download the zero-k game files in a form that is usefull to game makers who want to work on it.
I launch Spring and no games show up when I click "test games" or "maps.
Somewhere in your spring installation should be a folder named "mods"
Place the zk.sdd in there.
If you found the folder but the zk.sdd does not show up, try downloading this file: http://springfiles.com/spring/games/xta
and place it in there. (no unzipping)

oh new postings, i type too slow..
So, in which of those folders should I place the folder zk.sdd ?

Ok, ZK now shows up where I select a game.

There is nothing for selecting a map.

Skirmish has a few choices.

When I click test game it brings up X11 which then complains I haven't selected a map.

and will drop it in the maps folder. I hope this works.

Well, that seems to have done it. I added a map and selected it and was able to load the game. I didn't stick around to try to play it, but will try and update later.

This has been a LOT more intensive than I ever thought.

And now it's freezing. I get get into the map and for a second or two I can move the mouse, but then it freezes where I can no longer move the mouse. The last terminal output says:

It's much easier in Windows and slightly easier in Linux... the team needs a few more OSX Gurus for support to really mature on that front.

I've downloaded two maps now. In each of them the moment that the game begins it freezes/kicks me out. I don't even have my hands on the keyboard when this happens. Is this a map issue?

Is that complete? The end looks strange, is something missing? (because post was too long?) thats why uploading to pastebin.com is better.

it might be possible that zero-k does not work when run directly via spring.exe
Did you see any units on the map at all? Or just ground, trees etc.

That is the *entire* infolog.txt file. I just confirmed it. I've now tried three maps. The moment that the first unit is put on the screen (and I hear a mechanical type sound) the game freezes. I have to hit Command-Option-ESC in order to kill it. At least killing it works flawlessly. I will try the other app and let you know.

I put XTAPEV96.sdz into the mods folder, but the game doesn't appear when in Spring. zk.sdd is a folder that I can go into and see lots of files. What should I do with this .sdz?

place in mods folder next to the zk.sdd
(.sdz are "packed" games, .sdd are kind of the "development version" of games, thats why you can see the files inside)
Strange that it doesnt show up. :? You did already restart spring i guess?
