BA Chili Theme

Is someone out there who would be willing to shop a nice Chili-theme for BA and maybe a nice BA logo?

Depends on what you need the theme to look like. I am pretty familiar with skinning chili now if that is what you are looking for.

I can fix a logo up for BA if you want, but I'm not a big fan of Chilli so no GUI, sorry.

me neither, but its problaby the matter of too many windows in 0k.

anyway, i got another request. would someone bother to make 'pro ui' ?
i mean, resource bars that ba currently got and minimap would remain the same. instead of all info about units given in the bottom left corner of the screen, just name and hp (when unzoomed, heath bars are hard to see) and '1 page' building menu. smaller buttons and whats most important, without reclaim, repair, patrol, move (just repeat, hold pos, and fire buttons). also there would be no both t1 mex, wind, solar, llt, t1 labs, nano, basic aa (basicly everything that got binds).

whole point would be to reduce the size of the ui and less clicking on the buildmenu (especially changing 'pages'). i would keep old resource bars since i mainly look at the yellow/silver line, not the exact amouth of resource. chat would remain as it is, works perfect for me.

i know it sounds strange, but i personally could use something like that, there is a lot of buttons i dont use and it simply wastes a lot of space. also i got some idea for new ally res bars, will post pic later, i think its pretty interesting (again, should be smaller)

(ofc it wouldnt be something included as default, since new players simply would not be able to play properly)

Most important UI improvement: remap default keys to something sensible and pack it in a widget that's default on, so each newb don't have to go and manually make their own binds.

The elements and layout is easy, all that is needed is someone to design a good looking "skin" for BA (Basically window background / edge graphics). While it would be possible to take existing work from ZeroK, I think it would be better if BA had a unique look to it. Also ZeroK's graphics and layout are both pretty bad imo.

Not volunteering here but:

Building something inspired by (but not copied from) the original TA menu screens would be a good start.

We don't have enough fully opaque 'normal' UIs like every other RTS has.

Wow great, if you want to give it a shot, you are welcome! I dont have very concrete expectations. My only idea is that it would be cool if the skin would be available in two flavors: blue (arm) and red (core). The two can be identical besides the colors I think.
The final word about this will have Beherith nevertheless. I have BA running with Chili now but there are still quite some quirks to fix for me.

BTW: Big thanks to ZeroK team for Chili and all the work!

Get with behe and discuss it. Doing coloring is easy I have that already in the gundam svn. The big thing is what sort of look you guys want.

I really like this concept, and I think Chilli would be a great addition to BA, as long as the clutter is kept to a minimum. I find it counter intuitive to have buttons and icons randomly distributed on the screen.
Your screenshot is very promising though VBS!

Smoth, I would be very happy if you did a metallic type, grey, non glowy, rather war torn skin. What would be even nicer, if some elements of the GUI inherited the players teamcolor.

Jazcash, a new logo would be very nice, as well as some new load screens.

I'm not sure, it'd need to be thought out really well or it might end up looking obnoxious for some colors.

Swapping useless distribution of buttons for useless gaps and spaces between panels ftw

Swap the order panel and the info panel and remove the gap, make them the same width ( or at least big to small starting from the edge working towards the middle ).

Console should snap to the left of the minimap, so that we have a mildly usable space, not 2 unusable vertical stripes.

and in the pause screen (159x159) and hopefully at other places too.

@Wombat:
I dont like the GUI to be full opaque but Chili can we configured to any opacity you want.

@AF:
Lol keep your pants on, what you see in the screenshot is the default Chili layout which is not necessarily the final layout for BA.

You could also fix update rate of facbar and player list and generally finish those two widgets (they waste too much space and player list is simply lacking features).

Also chili texture rendering path needs coding afaik (jK can tell you how). Current rendering is very slow on ATI if you are not careful.

Im looking forward to nicer skin, we would certainly stick it back to ZK if its nicer than this teal glass.
