First, shouldn't there be a "game strategy" subforum, because I see the strategy threads randomly spread out between General Discussion, Game Lobby, and Games and Mods.

Ok, so it's a fairly flat battleground, you have your defense line ready, you just got your t2 vehicle lab (as ARM), and you see your opponent is massing stumpies.

What t2 vehicle do you build to attack him?

Panthers ftw. You can outmicro stumpys quite nice with them. But you need considerable amount of them to stand a chance.

If it were me trying to counter the stumpies, I would go for mass spam of one the following:

*Zeus
*Panther
*Reaper
*Goliath
*Can
*Sumo

Personally though, if I would do anything about stumpies, it would be stumpies as a counter. Ofc, you can always go for brawlers, but that's a bit more expensive.

mass spam of goliath sounds like fail to me, protect them with reapers, for more hp/per cost. Then goliaths can just take advantage of the superior range.

But building pitbulls/vipers are a good counter at first. But if you want mobile units... It depends on the terrain and army size whether I'd prefer panther or bulldog, if they come tightly packed then the aoe of bulldog is useful (and mix the bulldog with stumpys). From other labs I would just pick reaper/zeus/can (and mix them with stumpies too if possible).

It seemed to me that pitbulls aren't doing that great against stumpies - in a 1 pitbull vs 5-6 stumpies ratio, I'm pretty sure the stumpies win if the stumpy player spreads them out a little bit.

That was exactly what the beginning of my post was about.

That was exactly the point of my post, what can you build except more stumpies?

So something like 1 panther for 2-3 stumpies?

Yeh, pitbulls fail vs stumpies. Vipers fail too but not as much. And they look cooler.

Yeah. Depends how you use their speed advantage.

I'm not sure how well would panthers do in head-on fight tho. Probably not much better than 1v2.

They have good dps and range but low hp for their cost - protect them with units, stumpies flash or whatever, and they should take out much more than their cost of stumpies.

First flashes are not t2, and second, do flashes really beat stumpies?

I think they'll just get slaughtered, not being able to fire over wrecks and each other...

feh. I would say dont go t2, be better than enemy at stumpy management and spam. Otherwise, what about building up hoards of bulldogs and pwning shit with them? their AOE means that if you have enough of em and dont let the stumpies engulf you, they will decimate the tightly packed stoompahs.

I would stick to T1 tho, Imo spamming T1 tanks with T2 eco is where winnage is made.

small numbers of flash beat small numbers of stumpy
big numbers of stumpy beat big numbers of flash (maybe not if the flash player has ungodly micro on them)
big numbers of mixed stumpy and flash beat big numbers of stumpy (at least if you have decent micro)

Then what is the point of having t2 units?

Tbh, EMP drones would probably be best idea. Stumpies can't really hit them at all and they're very very cheap and would work wonders combined with an army of Core T2 capture bots :D

for when the enemy is also spamming t1 with a t2 eco? Honestly, above a certain size of stumpy hoard, the more concentrated firepower and bigger splash of T2 tanks just means they are better worth it. This point is not when you tech up though, it comes later, when you have proper eco and enemy does too.

fuck, i havent played in a long time, so this may all be hogwash

tbh the t2 counter to mass stumpys is to make a few t2 cons, upgrade your mex to moho than knock up a fuckload of nanos around your t1 lab and make more stumpys.
if you want to get fancy:

put in some reapers at the front to absorb damage. some gollys in to do the aoe,

a skuttle if you reckon you can catch a good number in the blast (ie, tightpacked going up a ramp)

a wall of cans will do well if they charge it but tbh cant move, stumpys better

mavericks have mean dps...

it basicly comes down to: t2 units are utility units, mixing them in with t1 improves a t1 horde in various ways. however, pure of almost any t2 unit fails liek baby compared to stumpy because stumpy is don

T2 is not purely better than t1. T2 units concentrate power to a smaller area and should be used when t1 becomes inefficient due to chokepoints and/or porc. If there is loads of room, use t1. Basically.
