I recently installed Spring on my machine running Ubuntu, and I intend to make my own game. Using the starter mods on the development page, I tried to start a game and got an error...

infolog.txt is attached.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We have the year 2012 & with Mesa you cannot play games.

on this page, go to "Download" (upper right corner).
there yo uwill see, that there is a newer version of the engine then what you are using.
on that page, go to Linux Setup guide and then Ubuntu. it will tell you how to get to latest versions.

in general, software that is updated often, and is not considered mainstream enough, has to be handled through separate repositories (as is the case with spring, for example), if you want the latest versions.

for the crash...
you will eihter crash too, or have very slow graphics or ugly glitches with newer versions of the engine, because what jk said. to play games you need a gamer graphics cards.

I understand that a patch will help, however I don't get how graphics have anything to do with a missing file armor.txt or whatever. Did you read the entire crash log?

I will install the patch and let you know if the problem persists...

You didn't said you got an error message box.
But this way your used mod/game either needs a newer version of spring or it is broken.

We updated the graphics drivers and the results were fantastic.
