there are a few problems on jaunty with spring


I have the message luaui not loaded

second thing is that the arrow to create level 2 building is not on my version

What arrow to create level 1 building?

Also, you might need to enable luaui in springsettings, though tbh I dont know how it works on linux, try asking someone in the lobby.

I had this problem before too - the game wouldn't load LuaUI without the /luaui reload command. After I had put up with it for a while, it automagically fixed itself.
You'll just need to use /luaui reload until it starts loading it automatically again.

I run Ubuntu Karmic and I had a very similar problem. The result of the LuaUI not loading was that I could not use the command menu to reach all the build orders. I guess the menu reverted to an ancient, untested state...

I think I installed a lua widget that failed to load properly. I'm not entirely sure. The issue arose immediately after I forced texture compression using driconf. (I have an Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller.)

Deleting ~/.spring/LuaUI and running BA v7.04 solved my woes. The directory was rebuilt properly on first run, and I've been able to play since without trouble.

It sounds like the same issue I had.

The problem is probably that there is a setting LuaUI=0 in 1 of your configuration files. This setting was in older versions of SpringSettings but not in the new one. The setting is still obeyed by the engine.

What stumped me on this one is that spring checks several locations for configs, depending on the platform you are on. The file that was giving me issues was buried deep under the "Documents and Settings" hierachy.

If you check your spring log file it may tell you which config files are being parsed near the top of the output.
