What next for the Wiki?

Post by FLOZi »

Having completed my revamp of the CEG pages:

http://springrts.com/wiki/CEG:Main

I am now seeking opinions on what to go for next. Here's a run down of the options:
  1. Extend http://springrts.com/wiki/User:Flozi/An ... uaExamples and move to Main: namespace
  2. Cleanup http://springrts.com/wiki/Category:Map_making and merge with any relevant pages in Enetheru's http://springrts.com/wiki/Category:Map_Dev - I'm no mapper so I would mainly be working off feedback from Picasso
  3. Create a template / base page for games to use as advert for the engine, e.g. showcasing what is possible to promote Spring rather than promoting the games themselves
  4. Rewrite http://springrts.com/wiki/Animation-LuaCallins using the same template as http://springrts.com/wiki/Lua:Callins
  5. Any other reasonable requests - please state. N.B. I don't really consider all-in-1 'how to make a game' tutorials reasonable, but I might be interested in doing smaller tutorials on specific subjects.

I guess if this comes to pass I can help. you just tell me what you want and I will work on it.

Much appreciated - seems that is where the demand lays!

All on hold pending updating the wiki with 145 lines of 97/98.0 changelog.txt updates.

You can leave updating my changes to me and focus on other stuff.

That's awesome because I just spent most my weekend (last weekend) extracting the headers out of smf's and trying to figure out how to load the raw DDS of the minimap. (meh, I learned a lot)

Edit: Also it's not one of the subjects but info on startscripts seems to be very sparse in the Wiki.

Yes I know, but I just meant sparse in the wiki, which also sends me to that link.

Can I add that to the wiki or is there a reason the it directs to that txt, rather than copy it? Does it change often?

A wiki page about the start script, what it is used for, and the changes in 97 and 98 is a good idea, but copying that text is pointless when you can link to it directly.

I think spring needs to attract more devs, and those need to know what they can do. A page with engine-proposals would be cool.

Also the frontpage needs to name the most powerfull AI spring currently has. And a countdown to the next competition.

There is also http://springrts.com/wiki/SpringEngineTODO in deprecated category; much of it has already been done.

Actually on closer inspection that file is just examples and is out of date (doesn't showcase "- added GAME/MUTATOR{0..9} so you can load arbitrary mutator archives before the game" from 97.0)
