I just noticed that the guntank's aiming script seems to be borked: Its turret either rotates rather fast and everything else is fine or it turns at a crawling speed an can instantly fire in the desired direction although it didn't aim yet...
it is possible, IIRC there was some odd issue with it but it seemed minor at the time. It is a pity I didn't get around to it but hey, thanks for trying the game! I was surprised to see a response so soon!
so, no problems, did anyone try out the alternate feature sets that come with different climates/water levels? Desert valley has some of the more dramatic changes.
Any gripes about balance? Any things that you lot liked?
Afaik just the chicken adaption works. Other AIs don't really get neither the eco system nor the research and for me the one that actually did something just built some constructors & stuff like that...
So in order to "train" a bit in singleplayer you have to play vs the LuaAI although as long as smoth didn't change anything here you just should fight the Zeon version as I find the Federation's "chickens" pretty much unstoppable (2nd to third Guntank wave always finishes me off)...
Due to its task to focus on.....everything while a human can only really focus on one, or in the case of very skilled players, 4 or 5 things needing micro. Now if this was ta, and everything had 360 degree fire angle i would say an ai would be plausible. But most units have fairly low fire angles, so troop positioning is key, and a bot could most likely not micro something like a pgm.
Besides, without proper micro, an ai would not have much to add to single player gameplay, besides some different things coming up.
People are always pushing for ai *rolls eyes* it will not happen for some time with the current setup. This is because elements of gameplay are still being added and unless someone else makes an ai (which will have to be maintained) and keeps it updated with each added feature in gundam it will not work out. Even then I don't want to have some bloody whining prick that cries when i break his ai.
In the scheme of things as I have them planned gundam has a large backlog of work and ai is down there with giving all the units inidividual voice acks. I have so many other things that are of much higher priority. This phase of gundam focuses a lot on adding grunt abilities. The first of which was requested by dorne(smok screens). i will be texturing more models and adding abilities as I can. I will not go further describing the plans as I hate hyping shit up.
There is a backlog, it is not viewable by anyone and it is not going to be. There is a lot to do, hell I have not had the time to setup some good agile tools nor is the team structured or large enough to warrent a daily scrum. Point is that yeah ai would be nice but it would add further work to the project releases. work that frankly is uneeded and would slow development. I want people playing each other so exploits can be found and squashed. I want people so gameplay can properly evolve. if gundam's model revolved around com stomps it would play poorly online.
Short version: be happy chickens supports gundam. If it didn't I would deem working on an ai as a waste of my time when compaired to higher priority issues
I haven't been able to. You really need to update the original Gundam site, people keep coming into lobby with classic versions from there in your absence.
