Voidwater = broken?
I was just trying to discover how transparency can be applied in a map. I was playing with the thought of using it for a new map idea. But before i started on it, I wanted to see again how it manifests in Spring.
So i tried to play a game on one of Beherith's asteroid maps (Astroturf). But Spring crashed (i believe it didn't even write to the infolog). I tried another one (Apophis), and asked a friend to try the same. We experianced more crashes.
Does anyone know what's going on? I was motivated to make a new map with transparency, but now i'm not sure if it will (still) work with Spring. These maps have Voidwater in common. could that be the source of the problem?

Please try once more and post the resulting infolog.txt
Thanks!

Re: Voidwater = broken?
ah ok. thanks for helping. now I can start on my map both more comfortably and confidently.

Re: Voidwater = broken?
Sorry to bust your bubble, but transparency only works with shadows off. Yay
Edit: let me rephrase that.
Voidwater with areas under water being invisible works just fine.
Setting actual transparency on the map texture only works with shadows off.

Re: Voidwater = broken?
That might not bother me at al. I was thinking KP, and bits and bytes don't have shadows afaik.

Re: Voidwater = broken?
That's not what he meant. He means that, if you have shadows turned off in your Spring config, then transparent terrain is opaque.
Re: Voidwater = broken?
The other way around: shadows off= transparency works.
