Inspiration

There's a mispelling in your thread title. There already were Spring maps made after such inspiration. They were awful!

Supcom has some very nice concepts..
Usually their heightmap simplicity good curves and concept is what makes them so appealing and playable.

Hey! I had a very insane idea of making series of highly interactive maps (e.g. having some natural disasters like earthquakes built-in or doom-timer or maybe unit-activated triggers). For all this there is a bad need of documentation/example how it can be done (how to make spring read scripts that will do all this). If someone knows how to do that and posts it here that would be cool inspiration!

Also, if your looking for visual effects, take a look at the scripts in Mercury-v1. It has an earthquake (faked by camshake) and an active volcano (only erupts at 13 minutes ingame time).

You can easily adapt snow gadget to firestorm, and the fog gadget to look more smoke like.

I felt these inspirations miss something. Especially the landscapes. I started searching for an example of a map that does has this 'something' they might miss.
The search terms "Gimmick" and "map" came to mind and the 8th picture google showed me I recognised as a RTSmap. I clicked it and it brought me here:

I don't care especially much for Halo, but i wanted to show this page because one sentence struck me as accurate. It said what i was also trying to formulate:
Good maps are often built around a "gimmick," some game play function or activity that needs to be supported or encouraged.
