Is this possible? As in static link everything? Or does it fall to the same issues as what is being discussed in the other thread?

I wanted a very distinct yes/no/probably to this question, which is the reason for the new thread.

Yes, spring isn't the only game (engine..) for linux, there are many commercial (binary), native linux games, f.e HoN, which work regardless of the distribution.
But, if you make it an Ubuntu thing I don't see why you couldn't do it just as well for other distros, just supply a tar.gz (maybe a run.sh that does some install-time linking or similar if needed)

You don't pay attention very well. Go read the other thread about static linking spring stuff. It's not a simple thing.


What I want to know in this thread, is can a completely statically linked spring be done for just ubuntu.

static linking in general isn't very hard

a statically linked spring would work on more than just ubuntu ;) would be a silly scope restriction.
