Yes, spring isn't the only game (engine..) for linux, there are many commercial (binary), native linux games, f.e HoN, which work regardless of the distribution.
But, if you make it an Ubuntu thing I don't see why you couldn't do it just as well for other distros, just supply a tar.gz (maybe a run.sh that does some install-time linking or similar if needed)

You don't pay attention very well. Go read the other thread about static linking spring stuff. It's not a simple thing.

static linking in general isn't very hard
a statically linked spring would work on more than just ubuntu would be a silly scope restriction.

No aegis, it isn't easy, and this question's scope is because of the inherent issues!
