Evolution RTS Help
I have tried several times to run evolution rts but it does not shown up in the mods drop-down list in the lobby. I have tried reloading maps/mods but it still does not show up, how can I get it to work?

Re: Evolution RTS Help
How did you download it? Was it via the Evolution RTS website or zklobby?
Well you know what? Screwit, I'll just tell you what to do.
Download this file:
http://www.evolutionrts.info/random/rapid.zip
Unzip it to your spring folder (this means the same folder where spring.exe is)
Double click rapid.bat
Once it's done, click reload Games/Maps in the lobby.
Profit!!!
P.s. Run rapid.bat to update.
Changelog is here (so you can keep up to date on changes if you're interested): http://www.evolutionrts.info/download/changelog/

Re: Evolution RTS Help
I found it, but it is just saying the same thing over and over again, how long does it usually last.

Re: Evolution RTS Help
Usually not long, but the first time will take a while because you're essentially downloading the entire game. Subsequent updates will be very fast.
Re: Evolution RTS Help
All it says is C:\Program Files (x86)\Spring>rapid pin evo:test. it just keeps putting that over and over again.

Re: Evolution RTS Help
Are you using the latest version of spring?
Can you please verify for me that rapid.exe exists in your spring folder?
If rapid.exe is not there, then grab the spring installer again, during the install process check every single checkbox thingy, when it's done run rapid.bat again.
Even so, maybe you should go ahead and reinstall spring just in case.

Re: Evolution RTS Help
I have reinstalled spring on my computer but every time I try to open rapid.exe a dos window opens for less than half a second and disappears.

Re: Evolution RTS Help
Edit: Tinysized incorrect instructions.
yes, rapid is a command line tool. Hence, the bat file which consists of 2 lines:
rapid pin evo:test (this line installs the game)
rapid clean-upgrade (Upgrades the game and removes old versions)
so to recap, run the .bat file from the same folder that rapid.exe and spring.exe are in. Wait for the game to download. Open the lobby. Play!

Re: Evolution RTS Help
Found the issue. The spring developers are *misguided* and decided to move rapid into a subfolder where it cannot function (because rapid has to be run beside unitsync.dll which is beside spring.exe). The workaround is to call the directory and then the program... E.g, rapid/rapid.exe pin evo:test - But instead of all that, I have simply included the rapid program in the zip file so that the spring devs being *Having a moment of non-clarity* doesn't interfere with my users again.
Please redownload: http://www.evolutionrts.info/random/rapid.zip
unzip to the spring folder (right beside spring.exe)
Run "Install Evolution RTS"
which will install the game
later on when you update just run "Update Evolution RTS"
I'm sorry for the trouble, the devs changed the location of rapid without telling anyone which is a retarded move but apparently whoever did it has no clue how rapid works.

Re: Evolution RTS Help
rapid supports loading unitsync from .. by now, that includes the version in 7.1 installer.
i'd like to get some of that drug that makes you king of the world even though you're forb. i once was close to it i think.. was banging my head against a stone wall for 15min, but then someone stopped me.

Re: Evolution RTS Help
You're welcome edog, thanks for bringing the problem to my attention. Sorry it took so long to get it figured out.
@hoijui
rapid/rapid.exe pin my:ass
Would you like a screenshot? ok I can do that for you.
Unless I'm mistaken, you owe me an apology. I, however, will refrain from insulting you because you've already pretty much taken care of that on your own. If any of you had bothered to test this and even paid attention to how rapid works on windows, you would have known this.
You guys might be served well by spending some of your time in *bloze instead of all your time in *nix.
@hoijui
Ya know, sometimes you're pretty thick, but generally I don't insult you over it. Rapid.exe being in spring/rapid does NOT work, unless the commandline used is run from spring, so in essence:hoijui wrote:rapid supports loading unitsync from .. by now, that includes the version in 7.1 installer.
