Hi,

I'm reporting a known bug, however the fixes are not working on my computer.

Configuration:
4GB, Vista32, core2 duo 7500
ATI card X3200 latest drivers
ATI hacks on

After 5 min of game the UI, to build, ressources, the mouse disapear (when selecting a builder and pressing shift)
I will reapear if :
I select a builder + a press shift key + I pile up with the left mouse some movements...
Then when I release again the shift button it is gone again...

Please Help :)
Thx

Frodon

How to reproduce the bug.

Build a level vehicle level one builder then press shift
and draw a circle with the right mouse button pressed.

If you want the UI back select the builder and try to protect a stuff.

very annoying...

Those are the unit commands ("UI"). They are only shown when the unit is selected and shift is spressed.

You can set "alwaysDrawQueue 1" in cmdcolors.txt (in your spring directory) so that the commands are shown without pressing shift.

Afaik it's not possible to show the commands without selecting.

(If you are talking about something else, make screen shots (F12))

I'm not a newb, I'm gold star in spring.

read carrefully the post : everything is gone, ie : gui, map, cursor...

The only thing still here is the 3d (units and ground)...

Here's a workaround. In cmdcolors.txt , simply comment out or remove the following lines:
Code:
stipplePattern 0xffcc
stippleFactor 1
stippleSpeed 1.0

That doesn't work for me...

I had to downgrade from Omega drivers due to this bug. Yes it's probably ATI's fault but it would be better if spring had a working default workaround. Workarounds that involve config hacking are not n00b friendly, especially if those n00bs aren't familiar with this forum or #sy (or the workarounds don't always work).

the problem with having a workaround is that somebody has to figure out what it is. none of the devs have this card and/or issue; i've got a 4850 and it works fine.

Thanks for your help guys.
could you please tell me which version of the driver is fine?

By the way this is I think a major issue, knowing that lots of people do have ATI cards....
when I look at the number of TA games nowadays less games played than 2 years ago.

I think that this has a link with the stability of TAspring... people like me used to play a lot and are not playing anymore because of that...

I guess that at least 30 people do have a bug before someone report it...
+if it is not solved... that could mean death of the project because below a certain number of players online there is no point in playing spring the community...
