Hi. usually about 20 minutes in a game (single or w/ players) I start getting a 4 digit ping. I've watched it hit 400K. I've run safe mode and turned off loads of widgets with little success. I've closed other apps. Is there a way to turn off demo recording?

Dual core Athlon X2 64 1.9Ghz 2G/512M shared gfx Win8

Your PC is simply to slow, has to little RAM and a bad gfx card - sorry.

The 512MB for the gfx are taken away from your system RAM, so your win8 is left with 1,5GB, which brings it to its limit when you run spring. The 1,9 GHz CPU gets to its limit when 1000 units are on the map and must be simulated, and on top your onboard-intel-gfx is making it calculate half the 3D-stuff, cause half it's 3D is implemented in the driver and not in the hardware.

Demo recording can be disabled, but it is the least demanding process of all - will not make any difference.

Stick to 1v1 games, and you'll probably be fine.

Another possibility is, that you are affected (like me) by this bug: http://springrts.com/mantis/view.php?id=3660 that let's your spring eat all your memory. You can find out, by running talk manager.

switched to Win7 32 and I don't have the problem. It was indeed a memory issue.

You could also try Spring 91.0 which is quite a bit faster.

you hit a known kaik crash bug it seems...

https://github.com/Kaylewt/KAIK/issues/6

only known workaround: use a different ai, at best a lua ai if available :-|
