@Licho:

can you point out a bit more where most load comes from? maybe this code can be improved / optimized...

Load? Ther is generally not much problem with server load, i would say its optimally used hw most of the time.

What can be optimized atm is spring-dedicated taking 100% cpu on startup for one minute or so (if multiple are starting/running at same time)

this server is imo still overpowered / to expensive... this is why i ask, what are the possible troublemakers when it runs on slower hardware?

Past few days it was running at 100% all 8 cores due to high number of requests on zero-k site until it was optimized/fixed.

I dont think there are single big troublemakers..its just general load of stuff it runs.

Server has tens of web requests per second,lots of traffic going on all the time.
In CPU time, biggest consumers are linux VM, mysql, zero-k site (includes plasma, nightwatch,pw,springie backend and similar services), ms sql server.

Most overloaded resource appears to be harddisk.
After reboot it takes tens of minutes until stuff runs at full speed cached in its huge RAM.

if disk is a "problem", the rapid service for example could be moved to a different server. (just a suggestion)

I checked server .. for example now the biggest process is 'autoregistrator' which unitsyncs new mods/maps and updates missions and stuff..

It was spending ages on unitsync init because server has thousands of mods and maps, i guess i have to clear that up.

Anyway im pretty happy with server setup it is now and dont want to change it much.

Wow, mightysheep actually did something moderately positive? From his behavior I was convinced he just viewed spring as a ripe ground for trolling.

Actually, you missed the Zero-K post where he asked "If I donate will I get unbanned?" :lol:
