i'm a little confused now. can wings add/subtract primatives? does the description 'subdivision modeler' mean it's incapable of these? edit: i think i've figured it out now. i wasn't keeping tight enough control of the tris that Wings was making. by tesselating the surfaces that aren't flat into tr...

Fuzion and AF - that was the only benchmark I've seen that had the lower-grade Intel core duos. The only ones I've seen have been the flagship chip comparisons. Which, are pretty close in cost/performance. That $315 dollar E6600 is jaw-dropping, though. $700 cheaper than the FX-62, yet outperforms i...

Price? Price was never being discussed. I'm talking about the performance numbers. Period. The price/performance ratio is hands down in Intel's court, but sheer performance of the Conroe doesn't smack down the FX line. You CANNOT argue it. That article wasn't even using the better FX-62 chip. No dou...

It doesn't need to be full-on skinnable like that crappy looking ASUS app. But having some nice gradient buttons or backdrops are pleasing on the eyes.

http://www.gamespot.com/features/6153900/p-2.html Look at those performance numbers. And I'm NOT talking about the crappy 1024x768 tests. Look at the high resolution 1600x1200 tests. The Intel chip barely holds it's own (by anywhere from 10-30fps). And they aren't even comparing it to the AMD FX-62...

I'd like to help. What about you give everyone until Sunday, and we all post a pic of GUI mock up we've made? Then you can pick the best one. **EDIT** I just downloaded AF lobby - is that one screen all there is to it? It would be nice if you could post a screeny of the main interface, and we can 's...

Well, breaking up the UV's isn't a good solution, though.

I can deal with a crappy looking model in UpSpring, but I would like to know if SPRING itself supports smoothing groups and/or hard/soft/weighted edges.

I have the textures posted on my website, in the gallery section for each unit. It's under the "misc" section, and it's the "render4" page.

Sounds good, Warlord.

As for the renders, yeah, just let me know. If you wan to use them for loading screens, I can render out some much higher resolution images.

Good tut for the newbies, Argh. Although if it were me, I'd have mirrored more of it. You UVmapped each barrel of the gun, though it was only needed for one. You could have cloned the one barrel for the others. Also, the main body (top ring and orange body) could have had a slice down the center, an...

Kai seems way too slow to me, though.
10-20minutes can pass before anything happens. Even then, I can sometimes stroll over to their base after 20 min, and they've only got like 5 kbots.....

Archangel, yes. They usually have troubleshooting info in them, not gameplay info.

And Min3mat - no need to be a smartass.

I'm simply saying that there's no easy way to make people read the manual. No matter what you call it.

Well then it's going to be 50/50 then I suppose.
I never read 'readme' files. Ever. 95% of the time they are pointless.
There has to be a better method. HTML/Wiki/PDF - whatever. Something that's obviously a game manual and/or instructions.

You're missing the point. MISSING IT.

Name the file GAME_MANUAL.txt instead of readme.txt.
Is that too hard?

No, it's NOT common sense. Not at all. "readme.txt" is an internet STANDARD for being a wasteful, USELESS file. It's as common as "OMFG" or "WTF". Just because it's the only file there, doesn't mean it's the game's manual. That's like someone saying "WTF" to y...
