If i want FFA, i dont want people changes their team numbers.
Its really really annoying when we start game with shared coms or allies.
And its realy annoying to change or check the damn numbers every second before starting.

what about implementing an option that warns the host if something might be wrong with the teams, e. g. comsharing, uneven teams, forgot to make boxes etc. before starting.
this might be the best option, as i think you cannot "forbid" the players to change their team/allynumbers.

Maybe a "lock settings" button.

Why i cant do that?
If i want FFA, the we play FFA. If people dont like FFA, they can GTFO.

Well you cannot because of protocol right now. You would need a change in lobby server.
However client could detect changes and rever them, or, like springie, just warn you in case of comm share or uneven teams.

We dont need to change any protocols, just make the lobby client disallow from you to change the settings when host have locked settings by some button.
And of course you could hack that easily with different program, but most people uses TASClient. And other client makers can add the same button then ^^

So the host would send the info that he has clicked the lock button by hyparinternets magick?

Yeah, he would send the data to others. Just like it sends any other data, like "commander ends" visible to others...

That involves an addition to the protocol

...which shouldn't be too terribly difficult.

This way it would be simpliest: host says message "locksettings" in the room, and when player receives that message, it will set the settings locked in his client, BUT it will not show the message, it would be invisible, AND host doesnt need to write the message, it would send that message when he presses that "lock settings" button...

betalord doesnt surf the forums unless there's a solar eclipse or some rare astronomical event, go pester him on IRC about it, but IIRC he's busy with RL stuff atm like exams.

IMO it's a waste of effort, it's customary to plot while waiting for everyone to click ready in-game and in the first minute or so of the game, when you're just waiting for your comm to walk around and build queued-up shit.

it also means you can start exploiting it by switching to the other allies without them noticing, monitoring their plan then reporting back.

Lol yeah :D
I can imagine what that would cause for me: EVERYONE changing ally number for every one second. >__<
Though, with a lock button, this would be solved...

Besides, you have the magic /kickstick to beat some obedience into your players

aye, boot offenders and repeatadly boot them if they try and join. if only there was a .ban function, so they could never join your games again..

Kicking is not good, i dont want to pull all players out of my game.
But indeed, .ban command would be nice, or should i say .tempban instead, perm ban command is too much for normal people... they cant use it right... they gets crazy of the authority what they got. "omftg i got so much powet meh bann everybyody woh winns me or syas bad otf me".
