Having trouble with some maps

Hey guys. I'm pretty sure that this question will have been answered before, but I searched and didn't find anything. I'm new to both the game and forum, so I'm sorry if I missed something really obvious.

Anyhow, I downloaded around 50 maps off Unknown Files. Counting the two that came with the installer, only eighteen come up in the playable maps list. Any suggestions?

were they all downloaded in the maps folder?

Also maps with the extension sdz are saved as a .zip by ie. You need to take a look and see if that happened.

IF IT DID: then you need to redownload them and make sure that they are not zip but .sdz.

I put all the maps into the map folder. I did not download the maps with IE (I use FireFox), but I will try that. All of the maps but one have the extension .sd7. The one that does not is one of the ones that does work (it has a .sdz extension).

Within my maps folder, there is a "path folder". In that there are a bunch of .zip files with names of different maps. There seems to be some correlation with there being a .zip file for a map and that map actually working. I don't know if that means anything or not.

the .zips in the path folder are created by spring when you play the game.
the "pathing map 3/28" stuff is stored there.

maybe check the file sizes of the maps if the download completed 100%?

I would say that that would be a good idea, but what's the chance that only 16 out of 50 got downloaded properly?

It is entirely unlikely unless you have an unstable net connection which could of course result in packet loss and thus damaged files.

however, baring some oddity like that I have yet to experience such a thing.

Even with packet loss on the client end a TCP transfer shouldn't result in corrupt files, should it? It's not uncommon for an overloaded server to terminate the transfer though, and if the download isn't resumable a lot of browsers will just say the file is complete (when it really isn't).

Are there any checksum messages in #Local in the lobby client after you start up?

unknownfiles is strange sometimes.
a few times the downloads stopped after 2mb.

Did you receive any errors the first time you launched TASClient with the new maps? It precaches all the minimaps when new maps are found, and if there are errors in one of them, the process stops and doesn't 'see' all maps that come after it.

There has never been an error message when I launch the TASClient. There has been a reoccurring error message when I launch SpringSP. It says:
"An error occurred while saving mod cache. 76 path not found"

I don't really think that would affect anything though.
