Since andy got the ball rolling with his bunny game topic, heres another fun game to try get a high score on. Called grid wars, great fun, really addictive and if you have played geometry wars evolved for xbox 360 you'll notice its very similar, but better:D

Info: Here

link: GridWars 2

I play it with the mouse only (to move and aim, there is a technique you will find on your own after some practice)

My current high score on medium, with high enertia:

You can play it with the XBOX 360 controllers or any other gamepad like that but i dont have either so i just use mouse. Differences are that with controllers you can move ship and aim another direction more easily due to controlling each independently but with mouse you can move your ship much faster with quick drags.

If you like that try some of these. ├é┬Á-cade and Gunroar even support dual analog or keyboard and mouse controls.

TUMIKI Fighters is oldschool.
didnt know there is more of them.

also search for Warning Forever, its a shot'em up with only giant boss enemies that you have to defeat. they have lots of moving parts you have to destroy.

Rayhound is annoying... :P
Any idea how to control the weapon select in WF? Most of the time it aims at free space... well I got it to aim downwards at least.

DemO how the hell do you control that thing on full inertia with mouse only? It goes twice as fast if you move the mouse fast... also what settings did you use? 25k points for each life/bomb?

Free player 100 000 free bomb 150 000

Started playing on hard with free player 200 000 free bomb 250 000, current high score is 883,507 high inertia.

Maybe I just suck at it as usual... barely reached 330k on hard but it's more fun. Lets see if I can freeze those lives and bombs...

Takes some practice, theres a lot of technique and how you move your ship and manipulate the shapes, also black holes are VERY important, and can be used largely to your advantage, not to mention they give massive amounts of points if you keep them alive sucking in shapes for ages, then kill them.

I've played geometry wars evolved on xbox 360 before this where i get over 1 million more or less everytime i play it, and even then i found it pretty tough at the start, took a few hours to get the hang of this game, even though its very similar, and the change from analogue to mouse was strange.

Stick at it anyway.

I got up to 12 million points on medium, got tired of playing, it stops getting harder after about 3 million, and frankly... I got bored after 2 hours... so I just let them kill me and get the high score...

:? ... :(

I noticed that black holes give lots of points when but feed them but they explode pretty soon into tons of dots and triangles. They're also useful to keep enemies away from you. On the other hand I usually run into one of the small blue triangles. That and to these annoying red things when there are 10+.

What size got your game area? I set it to 1600x1200.

Its aim moves in the opposite direction of your ship's movement when you don't fire. There's an invisible cursor that determines the direction, the closer it's to your ship the wider the spread.

Anyone else LOVED the black holes? There should be a version of this game with blackholes only! :)

Missle Defender clone by me.

http://www.megaupload.com/de/?d=S9BDWJY1
(you have to enter the code at the top of the page to download)

the description in the game is german but there isnt much text anyway so its not hard to figure things out.

F1 -> fullscreen/window
you have to kill the stuff that is flying toward earth with your nuclear missles.
fire missles by clicking with the mouse.
any object in the blastradius will be neutralized. aim ahead because the missles take time to travel.
The longer you survive the more points you get.

"SPIEL STARTEN" -> "START GAME"
"SO GEHT DAS" -> "HOW TO PLAY" -> german description
"ENDE" -> QUIT

my own highscore is 11574, friends usually got to ~5000 or something.

------------

I always shot the blackholes in Gridwars but only a little so it does not kill them. I seems to reduce their size and they dont explode so soon because thats usually a big problem...
