Should go into Art & Modeling

You shouldn't make it hollow at all, don't use the intrude function. Use inset and extrude instead. You can extrude something inside so there's no reason not to model the bays. Just don't make them too deep. They're going to be mostly black/dark anyway. Also try to get only the basic shape done, not every single detail.

Also, remember that your model needs to look into the Z direction.

oke when i have done some units i will try post here again

I think i will redo that first part of the model as it is better to not make them hollow.

Tx alot

Perhaps modelling the galactica form the new series would be better...

Daan, please go do some tutorials. I do not mean to sound sarcastic, but you need a decent understanding of Wings to be able to make models. A few tutorials and you will be a whole lot better, because you will know which key and which button does what.

Well modeling maybe but not all units

Ther is a good idea to model some from new serie bu ti must say the galactica looks more cool in old ones as in new ones. As this link shows new one. I just discovered bsg again after almost 20 years when i could hardly speak so it leaves so kind of prejuchment to my opinion. I prefer old (never9not yet) seen new one) but i got them on my hd i just watching some old ones and well i must say i probelly will still be prejuchmental after watching the new series so it would be welcome if some would add here there opionion about the matter

I disagree, that image is an unfair representation as you're comapring a glamour perspective to a blueprint perspective.

Seen from the same angle, the new galactica looks far better.

I liked the old one a lot more... the series, ship designs etc.
Oh and pretty please don't post supersized images nor super long URLs. This is annoying...

Progress

Well i been looking for the new units and ther possibility to add to the bsg mod. Personally i want to use the old battlestar galactica but maybe i could use the best of two worlds :D I must say hopefully that the new vipers have so much simurarities that its not really a step back to use those. And well i looked at some transports in the new series and here are some of my unfinished models. to letting you guys know of any progress.

Snipa are you out of your mind? Do I have to post the link to some of your work: http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j46/F ... nModel.jpg ?

Dan your works look really promising. Your models aren't very detailed: but of course a great texture will make up for that (thats how it should be nice and optimized).

Dude, your big transport was added into the BSG pilot as a joke (Its in the corner of the screen for all of five seconds). The team that did the BSG CGI also did the CGI for a vastly superior, but shorter lived, show called Firefly. And that's the main ship IN Firefly, Serenity.

So I don't think it'd be a good idea to have that be your main transport for an BSG mod...

Firefly rocks, unlike BSG 2003! :P

I know. I wish Firefly had lasted as long as BSG had, and BSG had lasted as long as Firefly had. Now that would have been awsome because the Firefly writers actually knew what they were doing and had a plan and all that and weren't just making it up, like they are with BSG. I mean, if you go back and WATCH all ths BSG episodes, it becomes clear that they're really just making these things up.

The BSG series are scripted as they go along, but they put a lot of effort into script choices and plot lines, character development and all the other things needed to make it a riveting TV show.

BSG in my opinion is undoubtedly the best Sci-Fi drama I've watched, and I've watched plenty of Sci-Fi shows almost religiously. With BSG even the editors themselves have said that at times the audience has to "buy" what they're seeing (believe it could happen, believe it makes sense in the wider background of the previous episodes), but there are plenty of treats if you watch it through from start to finish.

Its not one of those shows that you can really just pick up half way through and get a lot out of it. You have to watch from the beginning to understand the direction each episode takes, there is a lot of references to history in the previous episodes/series' which isn't simply covered over and over. Rather, the show is geared towards those who watch it regularly and know about what has happened in the past in the show, instead of a program which you can pick up, understand and enjoy watching any single episode on its own.

A lot of the impact and key moments in the show depend somewhat on the viewer understanding the history of the characters and events, and in that sense it develops very well from episode to episode despite the way in which they move the show forward. If you listen to the podcasts of Ron Moore for each episode, accessable through the main site http://www.scifi.com/battlestar, then you get a very interesting commentary on how the editors and entire development team work through the process of deciding how to take things forward and how the original script and plot of things often changes even in post-production to make the show more enjoyable, believable and interesting.

Damn this thread sucks. You can't even read it because of super long links and large images. :P
