Bring SPRING to the people of the world

Does anyone think it would be a good idea to submit spring to any of the gaming magazines, maybe get a copy on the cover disk or something?
or would there be problems with the content, ie: stuff taken from total annihilation.

IIRC it has already happened twice actually, but usually as part of a supcom story or something. There's some czech game magazine coming out as well with spring on it I think (at least that was their intention showing in the mail, I dont know if they actually continued with it)

I was thinking of submitting it to some of the Australian gaming mags like PCPP (Pc Powerplay), since they always run free are games on there cover disks and they do articles on freeware games and such.

I thought we wanted to be like an exclusive club?

I think it would be a little premature... wait until the desync is fixed.

Good point. Once that issue is fixed maybe it will be time for another go at slashdot.

good point but if it gets distributed early on we might get more people who can work on the project.

A 7 or so page article about Spring was already published in a French gaming mag IIRC.

People on the internet are very shallow and do not like to do things twice... if they play spring once and it is unstable like it is now.. they will turn away from it. We may get a few devs and lose many more possible players that would have been hooked if the game did not desync. One time is all it takes for a lot of players.

Good point although the current version is pretty stable. never crashed on me not even when i detonated 253 roaches at once (put a hole right through the map though)

You have not played long. I have been here for some time and am a mod maker for this game. It has instabilities and the DESYNC IS A MAJOR ISSUE.

Spring is never going to get much better than this; the improvements from here on out will be *marginal* at best, but it has everything to lose, mainly in terms of graphics. It's already outdated graphically, and the longer a solid marketing initiative takes to begin, the more Spring's worth will depreciate.

I disagree, Spring is improving at a rapid pace but of course OTA based mods aren't going to notice because Spring did everything they need for quite some time already. Improvements like proper animations and better scripting won't be visible to BA players but native mods (i.e. those that were designed for Spring's features instead of TA's) would improve greatly. Hell, those OTA mods don't even use s3o.
