i dont know if this is possible. But i think tomahawks are really cool looking rockes because they go so low above ground.
Image If possibel make something like this.

they are missiles, not rockets

Could be easy to do actually, units can have fuel.. and it would act like a plane flying.

Would likely need to be built in a factory to be used properly though.

Um, what for?

Are camikaze planes even possible in Spring? They weren't possible in OTA engine.
If they are possible, then "proper" cruise missiles (a-la in-flight controllable and counterable with "normal" AA weapons) can be made. Limited fuel will help, too.
Of course, cruise missiles that land on the ground near the factory after being built or turn mid-flight and come back would look a bit silly...

In a worst case scenario you could handle that via script, just detonate the unit once its weapon aims or even better make it hide and destroy itself with no effect while launching a projectile that looks just like it at the target.

GOD DAMN IT...

Lets think about this...

Tomahawk cruise MISSILES fly low and hug the ground to AVOID RADAR DETECTION, there is nothing mystical special or cool about flying low, it does not grant you +2 to damage rolls or give you extra cool points.. its done simply and specifically to AVOID RADAR DETECTION...

Yes thats right IN REAL LIFE we have radar that can detect Missiles.. WOAH.. I know, and IN REAL LIFE radar is blocked by terrain, and gets obscured working close to the ground... WOAH...

Why cruise missiles are pointless in spring...?

Lets see... shall we:

1. Missiles arent detectable on radar (NOES!)
2. Missiles that arent cruise=1; and vlaunch cant be shot down (NOES!)
3. Only Missiles can shoot down other missiles (NOES!)

Those three things mean that having a tomahawk flying style would be PURELY VISUAL and serve no functional purpose..

and this should be in the request section as a request for a new visual missile flying type..

Unless you turn it into a form of kamikaze plane...

I think there've been numerous requests to make kamekaze planes now. Basically that sounds like the only way to do such a unit justice - have a "high altitude plane" that is a conventional missile (which can be shot down) and a "low altitude plane" for cruise missiles (which is invisible to radar).

Of course, I don't think any mods are interested in this feature, so don't expect a patch anytime soon, since modless features are just useless creep.

Still, it would be nice if tags could be made more universal in cases where it would make any kind of sense - fuel work on vehicles, kamikaze for planes, etc.

imagine the oddity that would be a tomahawk launching then stopping after giving it a move order. You'd need lua to fix that

I always make that mistake. Dunno where the "e" comes from. My personal pet peeve is loosing the game.

At any rate, many almost-modders have expressed desire for units that use other units as weapons a-la starcraft, this could be considered yet-another-manifestation of that desire.

In short, one of those pseudo-MTR subjects that is way, way down the list of priorities after things like "ending desync/providing resync"

because I do believe smoth said he might possibly somewhere be a weaboo

such blasphemy cannot be allowed...

They are possible in TA since two/three years old patch (TA4.0) was developed by Prognosis. Ive remember that it included also auto-teletransportation for units, and both worked well.

I think that the best possible use for some future Kamikase prog lines in Spring would include more one command for aircraft, a la on/off kamikase mod, for send a plane or, an one way squadron through the map to explode something very valious, or to do something more desesperate and heroic in the heat of a battle  ....of course it will need a micromanagement that not would be interesting in the "heat of a battle"..
