there are some auto-servers called [WG]Autohost1/2/3 with a superior cpu-power of each 100 unbelievable mhz. they desync every game after 1 second of playing. isit possible to ban them?

they should be kicked as they dont work, ever.

the lobby mods can find out who owns them (if there on the same ip as the owner) and should pm him (zydbot has delayed PM facility if you didnt know)

but yes they are bloody annoying, luckily there on XTA most of the time so it doesent matter :P

All autoservers report to have 100Mhz, I assure you this is not accurate.

If there arent enough games being hosted it usually means there isnt enough players to play them

AutoHosts have been somewhat useful in promoting S:44

[insert typical annoyed pintle rant]

I have played a few long, good games on WG autohosts.

WG stands for Wolf Games which is the site that the xta dev forum is based on, owned by Grumpy Bastard, who's lobby name is Maiq. A good 30 second stop in #xta or #peet could have found this out of course...

In fact, they aparear to crash/unsync 10x more than player hosted games.

My favourite story surrounding the autohosts is quite interesting. I would read it thorughly in order to fully "digest" its contents.

All the autohost got set to the mod TA overload 0.3. ie overload's not very good mod. It was inedible.

For some reason they were always desyncing on everything but XTA. So they are now XTA-only, kthx! And they're set to appear as 0.1 GHz for comedic value >_> <_<

tbh the xta bots are the only ones that see regular good games, mostly because they all have admins that are on regularly. bots without admins are worse than useless.

The bots might be using a 128 core cpu, never know for sure though.
Im sure you've already done this, but have you PMed the owner or any of the five registered admins letting them know what was wrong in detail, such as what map you were playing, what the time/date was, and which mod you were using, at the very least?

The answer is no. The only PM i've ever received in complaint of the autohosts, was from licho saying it was desyncing, after which I reinstalled the bots, spring, and downloaded new maps/mods, the problem seemed to have been fixed for awhile.

Its fairly hard for anyone to fix anything, when no one knows about the problem... It would be like calling up an auto mechanic and whining/complaining to them that they havent fixed your car, before you drop it off. If the person on the other end of the phone didnt hang up immediantly, they would probably have to kindly ask "....what?"
caldera wrote:isit possible to ban them?
I would consider that fairly selfish to want ban autohosters, because the user(s) of it are too ignorant/lazy to let anyone know something is wrong. In the time it took you to type this post, you could just have easily typed !admins in any of the three autohosters, and PM'ed any of the five admins.

BOT status and the word autohoster should clue a user into understanding that for the most part, its unmanned. So long as there are more than a few people that continue to use these things, they stay. Im sure there are more than a few regular spring users who cannot host a game due to having dial-up, a crappy router, or some other problem.

sorry grumpy, i dont wanted to annoy anyone here, bit these hosts are there for over a week now and i tried to play many games on many maps on them and none worked, so i thought the only way to fix it is posting here. had no idea how to find out who owns them...

Well there's also common sense. They have a [WG] tag and so do I and Grumpy...you could have taken 5 seconds to look at the playerlist and pm him or myself.

cmon your servers didnt work for over a week, if you had played one single game on one of them you had seen that. also why is it wrong to post that here, thats the place for such topics. but i dont want to argue, i thank everybody who offers these autoservers. i'll be more sensitive next time. (you WG guys must be in the lobby at another timeframe, never seen one of you)

Ive only played XTA and BA on them, but they all work fine locally. Though, thank your for your pearls of debugging wisdom. Again, BOT and autohoster should clue someone into understanding that someone isnt sitting there staring into the screen watching it and asking everybody "How was your game?". The only way I would be able to know there was a problem, is if someone tells me something is not working. When I see people joining into the springies, starting games and playing for up to an hour, I have to assume there are no problems.

Unless someone would like to pay any of the admins of the WG autohosters a salary to baby-sit them and monitor in-game conversations, this is the way things will have to continue.
caldera wrote:also why is it wrong to post that here, thats the place for such topics.
No one said its wrong to post here, I just find it irritating that people cant seem to be bothered to let any of the admins know of a problem when it occurs, and would prefer to complain on the spring forum about how they've been broken for a week, and should be taken down.
caldera wrote:but i dont want to argue, i thank everybody who offers these autoservers. i'll be more sensitive next time. (you WG guys must be in the lobby at another timeframe, never seen one of you)
No need to be "sensitive", just some apply common sense. I dont mean to rip on you in particular caldera, but if one person has had troubles with them, that means that there are quite a few other people who have used them, had problems, and couldnt be bothered to let anyone know in the past week or however long they have been broken.

[RoX]1v0ry_k1ng, lurker[], [WG]Peet[ukm], [WG]Maiq , [SSFL]SuperNoob , [RoX]pintle[ukm] , and []AF are the registered admins currently.

Update :
Autohosters welcome message changed to remind users to PM the admins.
