Spring RTS Engine

Hello, I've been having trouble getting spring to work. I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong, but I have no idea what and where.
So, what do I need to get and do to play spring in linux?

Alien can convert Debian packages to rpm, try
that before you go the compile-it-yourself route.
