Mex upgrader AI help

I have noticed Mex upgrader AI for Level 2 units but struggle to get it to work. Any tips?
Ok first off, some background on units under group AI control. If you put a load of units on a group AI, in order to get the group-AI control panel for those units, rather than the regular control panel, select one or more of the units from the group and press 'Q' (if you have remapped your keys it may be something else). This will select every unit in the group and switch the left menu pane to the group controls.
The mex upgrader AI just needs to be selected for a t2 con unit. Then select that con unit and press Q. you will see on the left hand menu, there's a manual/auto toggle button. Change it from manual to auto and the unit will go to the nearest mex, reclaim it and then replace it with a t2 mex. It will then go to the next nearest mex and repeat.
