A tribute thread.

Oh yes, how we keep complaining at minor errors and annoying bugs in the game, we hate this and that, change it as fast as possible, preferably yesterday, omgwtf plzthx. By all means, we are whining our brains out at some ridiculously disinteresting point but we only do that because we want to make it better.

Lets just ignore all the minor details we don't like and concentrate on the massive, absolutely mind-boggling time and care spent developing a remake on an eight years old fainting game. The insane boost to the community activity and yet another life to the old piece of trash so many of us have grown to love. A tribute to what the SY's done.

Thank you.

A lot.

Every time I play the game, I learn about a new feature the game has. It is truly amazing what the SY have managed to do.

Does anyone know how many people have made a freelancer RTS with less than 10 people on the coding team?

(Hint: I personally don't know any.)

I thank you for GPLing it too. Open source!

I wanted to post such a thread yesterday, after a long, bugfree, very enjoyable game I just had, where I realised how already awesome spring was, how it was as good as a in dream, how all the things save two people complains about in the forum appear as wise decisiosn once you actually try them in a real game, how incredible it was to have such and advanced RTS engine for free, how happy I was after I playing such an near perfect game, but the game lasted so long (with only a single error message during all that time) that when I went to post I heard the birds singing outside and that reminded me the time it was.

Been messing around with it all day, and it's wonderful. Even without anything intelligent to play against :) (haven't got around to installing .NET). The amount of BLAM in this game is even greater than the original TA, the ground deformation emphasizes the explosions beautifully. Yay TA!

This engine, as it matures even more fully, is going to be basically a revolution in RTS gaming. If you think TA had mods, wait until people start churning out source plugins and additions for this.

SY's,
Seeing your engine makes me spontaniously punch, kick, burn and bite my C&C Generals disks, which costed me ├óÔÇÜ┬¼40.

btw, Neuralize, keep those images-that-must-have-taken-ages-to-render comming! And where exactly did you get those models?

It doesn't seem like it would need that long to render really, try several hours on a Terragen map on a low end machine :D

Yeah, This engine P\/\/NZ Generals....
