I'd rather suggest a more advanced ignore system for the lobby clients. Wildcard (or regex) ignore lines where you can choose what to ignore. Nick, login, certain keywords in the message part, certain events (join, part, quit) and so on. I find that more useful than abbreviations which only make spam shorter but won't get rid of it.

If you don't like speedmetal then just put that word on ignore and begone, spam!

Not really because some people may write that map name in a diferent way and some others completly ignore the existence of gramar :-) , so your filter wouldnt block all speedmetal spam.

No but you'd be able to add more than one filter to block every variation of it.

But im to lazy for that  .

Since its open source, there'd probably be a premade filter list you could just download, like for fireflacks.

How about a filterrule that ignores any user that's currently in a speedmetal game?

And then be IP banned from FU and UF..... and then find themselves banned from the server for spam...

IP banned... welcome to the future! I hardly doubt an IP ban will stop anyone with some smarts from what he's doing, even if he's got a fixed IP.

Any free proxys most likely doesn't give you the speed needed to download TA Spring maps at a reasonable rate.

A large number of, if not most, people have dynamic IPs, at least in North America.

So an incredibly large portion of North America gets banned. And then murders the idiots who caused that, IE the speedmetalers.

tbh Id rather their sort vanished into SM than joining normal teamgames and fudging everything up, forgeting to make more than one mex, then d-gunning their team-mates

Private ones do however... :-)
