Upgrade function

I would think this feature would be widely used and springs engine i think really lacks this obvious feature (again i am a simple noob forgive me if this is already implemented) for example, If you want to tech to level two, you want to replace the crapy metal extractors with MOHOs, at the moment i build the MOHO beside the crappy one, wait till its finished and reclaim the crappy one for efficiency. I thought I would be nice to have a button on the metal extractors toolbar bit saying upgrade, so it would be destroyed and the better built one build on top of it or something to that effect or allow the placement of MOHOs onto of the current metal extractors, ie just allow the green grid to appear when placing it and then when clicked the crappy one disapears and the MOHO can be started to be built where it stood

It would work on vehicles too, static gun defences etc so if a bot levels up with its exp it can be allowed to purchase a better gun with this feature, anyway these ideas aren't great but i bet there would be hundreds of ways to implement this on certain features, it would probably be better used on a building specific to this role i.e. implement a sort of strategy centre and have not just one or two options available a good few upgrades to be used, but have a limit to say one or two can be used at a time so the user would have a wide selection of basic upgrades to suit their play style etc

again its the upgrade feature that I would request more than anything rather than the attached ideas/examples i have posted

MTR +1

It's been suggested before. We're waiting on results.

lol just found that theres an AI to upgrade to MOHOs. Well good that cuts micro down a bit, better found late than never haha

btw, MTR? sorry what does that stand for

Also just an opinion, I think they should bundle more AIs with Spring such as the ETA AI, Cursor AI, AF Metal AI V3 as well as others I have seen. Is this not just a case of having the authors consent?

Mex upgrade is peseudo-implemented already, you can set a constructor to Mex Upgrader AI and set it on auto - saves a Lot of headache.

It does have a teeny weeny problem though, it doesn't check if the mex is on land or water :P.

Edit :

MTR = Monthly Topic Rotation.

IE : Something that's frequently asked for.

Most good maps this isn't required on, because you can simply drop a moho next to the original mexx. Only maps with teeny-tiny-metal-patches require this approach.

That and geotherms. Upgrading geotherms in AA was a huge pain since you can't self-D them.

Select it and press Ctrl+d. If you wish to end your game press Ctrl+a to select all units and Ctrl+d to kill em all :wink: .
