Sharemetal & Shareenergy: Currently Bugged IMO

Okay, so I was playing a crappy altored divide game when I happened to combomb someone with the intention badly damaging his frontline, reclaiming both our coms, and sharing the metal to my allies. Before starting to reclaim, I set the sharemetal slider to just below max (I wanted to keep a good chunk of the prize for myself, because I was going to go lvl 2). According to specs watching the game, because I reclaimed the wrecks with multiple cons very quickly, much of the metal was reclaimed faster than it could be shared and thus became excess.
While I would argue that all excess should be shared with allies by default (there really is no reason for this not to be the case, and it was a setting integrated into the Demo Recorder's chat macro from the start), I would be also be satisfied if this bug were fixed. That is, if you set share metal or share energy slightly below max, all of the excess resource should go to your allies, even if you acquire that resource very quickly, as in the situation above.
I am not a coder, but this seems like it should be a fairly easy thing to fix. Some PLEASE make a patch.

I remember something like this being an issue when I took up three Comms and an Instigator a few versions ago... I think it should be fixed as well.

tbh it's not that big of a deal, you just have to set it to share the last 25% or so. If you want to keep metal to tech or whatever build a metal storage or 2 beforehand. But it would be nice if this could be fixed and also I think the default metal share % should not be the last 1% but more like the last 5%, because this can happen when you have excess as well.

It's stupid as it is and probably an easy fix. Also, in that particular situation there wasn't time to make an mstorage.

Setting the share slider a bit further down isnt that hard. Stop being lazy

Yes, but he'd didn't know about that. You're not supposed to play around Spring's engine bugs.

The slider bar's weakness is not obvious to the user. If it would show the wasted/unshared amount to the user, then it would be obvious what they're doing wrong. Instead, they have every reason to assume that the stuff is being shared to other players.
The current system makes it basically black magic.
