Well I finally graded the other day, making me a 4th Kyu in Shotokan Karate

. t's taken me 2 1/2 years but damn is it worth it.
So does anyone else here persue a martial art?

1st martial art: Kara Pa Testa (Forehead into the face)
2nd if 1 doesn't works: Kung Foge (Kung run away)
3rd and final resort: Ai ki dor (Ai, what pain)

I practiced Ti-Kwan-Do up to brown belt, where an unfortunent injury knocked me out for a half a year. Then I lost all interest in it. But thats the way things go...

I was doing Judo when I was a kid until I got my (overly expensive) Judo suit. Then I lost interest and quit. Yes no belt at all, I have no discipline nor patience.

I did jui jitsu for two months, but I never payed dues so I could never belt test.

I did karate for one week, broke my arm falling off the monkey bars at school, never got my uniform or white belt, and never went back.
However, to this day I'm not a bad informal fighter.

Doing:
Tai-Chi for 2 years
Capoeira (Abada) 3 years
A few months of Tai-Kwon-Do, Ninjitsu, and others.
Also some swordsmanship for 4 years,
Now classic boxing (and it rulez world).
But then, I'm russian and its normal for us to be overly obsessed in martial arts :)

No pure grapplers? I would expect some of the Russian-area folks in here to be doing some Sambo at the very least...

Capoeira shines most as a sociabilization art than a "true" martial art. I must find a capoeira group one of these days to manage some socialization. .. ... or not. I'l just stick with my geek computer, haha.

hmm I did a few, ninjitsu was pretty fun lots of pressure points and stuff, kickboxing (I suppose thsta sport not art) was probably the most useful, I always found the ones with free sparring were the best, repeating drills over and over did nothing for me,
I guess if you wanted to defend yourself that UFC stuff would be the best option, Im too much of a wimp to do that though ^^

I've been doing Tukido (based on Tae Kwon Do) for about 14 years. I got to black belt a while back but laziness, and general university life got in the way of me progressing further.
