Hy there.
I really like what u are doing.
But i have a problem .
It has probably been asked quite a few times but i cand seem to find any related stuff to my problem on the forum except the thing i found in the FAQ
yup.. the "Needed extension GL_ARB_texture_env_combine not found" error
I just want to ask.
Is there reallllyy no way of playing ta spring on vista with ati video cards ?!..
"For users like me running Vista with an ATI card, tough luck, you cannot play TASpring" is this true ?!

If I recall correctly, Vista has no OGL support at the moment.

I'm pretty sure XP has no OpenGL support at the moment either.
But in both operating systems, you get OpenGL support if you install drivers that support OpenGL. Isn't it fantastic?
ATI do not support OpenGL yet in their Vista drivers, but who can blame them, Vista isn't even for the general public yet (I think). Nvidia supports OpenGL in their drivers, no clue if those drivers work in the RTM build.
You're trying to play a 0.74 (not final) version of a game on a OS that hasn't been released yet. What did you expect?

Until you get OpenGL in Vista, it is true (and don't expect to have it any time soon and, when you have it, expect it to be lower quality. It is a strategy from Microsoft to force people to use Direct3D instead).
It also means that it won't run Quake, Doom, etc.

If you have a Nvidia card Spring will work. I've installed Vista RC2
when it came out and so far I've not had any major issues. I figure
when it's release next month their should be a lot of drivers updates
coming out.

I would suggest you read through my post, it's not Vista's job to support OpenGL, but the graphic drivers, just like in XP. And I have no clue why you think Quake and Doom needs OpenGL.
The lower quality thing is just something Microsoft anti-fanboys were saying based on problems that have later been fixed, iirc.

OpenGL is cross platform.
Windows XP SP2 does not have OpenGL support, you need graphic drivers for that, but ATI's XP drivers support OpenGL.

Perhaps because they use OpenGL for their graphics?

thanks ZellSF ...
thats what i was trying to say :D .. if the windows xp sp2 ati drivers have opengl support..
and why doesnt this mode work on direct3d ?!. i why is it just on opengl ?. because of performance issues ?

Sorry, but the Q3, Q4, and D3 renderer subsystems are all exclusively OpenGL-based. Q3 is opensource, so you can check that one for yourself. As for the other two (which use the same engine), look eg. at their console history when running them.

He said Doom and Quake.
Not Quake III Arena, Quake 4 and Doom 3.
I can inform you that Quake 2 also had an OpenGL option, but I don't think Quake did, I'm not sure.

I already said so, OpenGL's cross platform.
