My computer is killin' me!

I have no idea why! I can play oblivion pretty good with my 6600 (AGP 8X slot) and not freeze. But when I freeze, it literally stops, no response whatsoever. The mouse doesn't move, music quits playing, games pause.
I believe my 250 watt PSU is not workin' too well, I think I may order a 350 watt PSU for Christmas.
The weird thing is that it hardly freezes when I have oblivion playing, but I can't get in Wings3D for more than five seconds before it up and halts...

My roommate has a similar issue, he plans to get a 300 watt power supply from an old machine this break.

I wonder why it hates Wings3D though... It can play the most demanding game out, but buckles under the weight of a 3d modeller! Hahaha, how weird and pathetic..

ha! I have THE EXACT same problem. its all openGL, which is why wings is crashing. everything openGL will crash. its not a heat issue, or a power issue. for some reason, when ATI cards age their opengl goes down the crapper. Ive tried for months to fix it, and I can only delay the crashs not stop them.

He says he is using a 6600 (meaning nVidia, not Ati).
What other stuff you have on the machine? Like how many HDD, Optic Drives, what CPU, etc. A PSU of 250 may be too low for many today's PCs (or not and you just waste money buying a new one).

I have (I'll just go from the top to the bottom, literally)
Dvd writer/cd writer combo drive
Cd-Rom Drive
181 Gb HD 7200 RPM (I think, not quite sure on RPM)
nVidea GeForce 6600 (Not GT or GS or nothin, just a 6600)
Asustek Motherboard (Maybe produced by Megatrends, I really don't know...
AMD Athlon 2.0 GHZ 3200+ (Which means its pretty much 3.2 Ghz..)
2 Sticks of DDR-SDRAM 512 MB Each
That's about all I remember from all of my searchings..

I say it is quite possible that the PSU is not giving enough power.

250W PSU is a bit low. I've got a 400W PSU since ages... you should upgrade to something better. The reason it freezes is probably because of the CPU and GPU, they need more power on full load.

I'm having the same problem, but it only seems to freeze when i do something involving internet. Spring and other games work fine, but whenever i do windows update or mozilla, it completely freezes and i cant even CRTL-ALT-DEL or anything.

Your computer suffocating you is a sign of a defect caused by age, the only cure is total replacement

In the revolution, computers would be free.

And thus nobody would produce them.

In reference to this, it is normally my body heat, somethin' like 56* celsius...
It has been really nice about freezing today, I'll try Wings.. Wish me luck...
