this world is insane

Yuli Tri Suwarni, The Jakarta Post, Bandung

Teachers and parents in Bandung on Monday urged privately-run TV station Lativi to stop airing its World Wrestling Entertainment show after more apparent cases emerged of children being hurt imitating the wrestlers.

Lativi told the West Java chapter of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission that it would not stop running the show, however. The program airs for four hours starting at 10 p.m.

Lativi has begun airing periodic announcements during the program warning about the danger of imitating the wrestling techniques and urging parents to guide their children when they watch the show.

The TV station faced mounting criticism following the death of Reza Ikhsan Fadillah, 9, who was beaten and kicked by three older children in a 'smack-down' game in Bandasari, Cangkuang, Bandung. Reza suffered a broken shoulder, chest injuries and a possible concussion and died nearly a month later, on Nov. 16. Authorities have not established that his death was linked to the beating.

Thats happening all over the place, with vidio games too! I think I count...fifteen anti-vidio game laws. But here's the good news: Every single one of them, big and small, has lasted about a day or two in courts before the judge threw it out for being unconstitutinal.

At least one of our branches is still semi-competent!

this is the reason why everything has disclamers

of particluar interest is this one:
look on a hairdryer box or instructions, somewhere on it it should read (at least here in the US)...
"Warning Do not use while sleeping."

just makes u wonder how the hell someone managed to pull that off... :o

Kids imitate everything. I know in kindergarten we imitated anything from Mighty Mouse over Samurai Pizza Cats, Power Rangers and even that show with the antropomophized cells.

Most of the wrestling shows show warnings to NOT try this at home (, kids.) since ages.

The best way to get someone to do something is to tell them not to do it no matter what happens.

Yeah. Anyway it's the fault of their parents. It's their responsiblity to know what their kids watch on the telly.

Anyone else remember when it was the WWE? That still throws me off...

Oh that and the fact that when I was young I had a freind who thorugh everything he saw in WWF...E was real. It's pretty funny how incredibly wrong he was.

Yeah... of course some of the injuries were real, I mean it's difficult to fake a 3 meter dive into a table which wasn't made of cardboard from Shane McMahon, not to mention Owen Heart's death. :(

But generally most of it is fake, it's entertainment (that's the E in WWE) nothing more. They're like stuntmen.
/me performs a Stone Cold Stunner on zoombie 8)
Hell yeah.

Uh I think that was a bit unsenstive in regard to the thread...

.............................................................................

What gives? Something wrong with me staying up to watch my favorite animes at midnight? Something wrong with whoring the computer all night, or the Wii that we got?

Why the prejudice?

And parents shouldn't discriminate cuz we are "kids..."

Are you 13 or younger?

Also, yes, parents SHOULD "discriminate" as you put it... that's their job.

Teenagers body clocks are generally 2+ hours out of sync compared to a fullgrown adults meaning that they will not naturally be able to get to sleep at the same time.
