...aaand the third model competition. Again.
Rules (same as before):
- under 1000
triangles (max. 1020)
- untextured (again), textured shots are allowed.
- post finished model in obj format, other formats are welcome but obj is the most useful
- screenshot of the finished product please
The date when this competition ends is TBA.
Basically when enough models are in.
Vehicle includes any kind of vehicle. It can be on tracks, wheels and I guess even hovercrafts count.
Happy modeling, again and keep your polygon issues elsewhere.
PS:
The entires will be published under the GPL license, so don't do copyrighted stuff, okay?

Mine is coming along nicely, and is less than 400 tris, with all propulsion systems, body and weapons complete. I will submit it skinned, and it's going into NanoBlobs, like everything else I actually get done

I'll put up WIPs when the geometry is posed tonight.

I bet mine can be better than Arghs if I try
Edit: The buggy I am redoing (It has an inside, but I wasn't about to make an easily spammed unit 1,500 polies ot so, so I am going to redo it, and try to destroy the inside..)
447 tris, will try to get it down to 300 in the remodeled version..
Also, Argh hurry up, I wanna see if I should try and beat ya

Is that a car with a crown? Yeah that rocks, gets my vote by default.

Oh my god..
I actually got the buggy down to 300 on the dot..
I did something I said I would, yay..
I didn't think it would be possible to make it all the way to 300..
Now, I used 1 cube to make the whole body, 1 cube to make the gun holder thing, and like... 6 cylinders..
300 tris.. Nice..
Edit: By the way, I don't even have an inside anymore

Well, modeling a good weapon wasn't as easy as I thought.
Snipawolf, what did you plan to do with the inside of the car? In Spring you wouldn't see it anyway because you can't have transparent windows..

Thats what I said, I removed it completely, the whole body of the vehicle is a box.. Just inset, extrude and move along y was all I needed..
No more empty space inside..
Edit: Plan to.. Ohhps.. My bad
I was planning on having infantry driving and all.. I even had a steering wheel XD..

Will that vehicle do? It's 348 quads.

Very cool. And 348 quads is, of course, merely 796 tris, so it is under the cap.
The only quibble I have with the model is that the wheels do not appear to be round- maybe that's just the angle, though. But they look like rounded squares from here to me.

I think the bevels need to be moved so all sides are the same size, then it'd look more round.

I agree. I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw that, I wasn't sure if it was just my eyes going bad

Corrected the wheels. Added YZ view from Upspring to show how they really look.

This thing is inspired by South-African G6 mobile howitzer:

Edit: replaced barrel with the hexagonal one

Make the barrel a hexegon, that way it'll round shade it.

Hey I remember that tank from a statistics card game.

Replaced barrel with the hexagonal one in my previous post. Any more comments?

Does it not round shade anything over 6?
edit: (including 6)

It shades anything "round", no matter how many sides it has along any edge that is not unwelded and does not have a UV seam.
