Spring RTS Engine

this has been bothering me for awhile, are they brains in vats with mechanical bodies or are they little guys in a cockpits?

I think full guys... the tech to support a brain outside of a body and interface it is just too much added cost for mass production.

Full bodies are even more expensive to produce.

You'd still need more equipment for fullbodies, such as more space for the body, more nutrients, essentially scaling up most components required for a brain...

btw scientists have already managed to keep brains alive outside a body for several hours, and they did this decades ago in the 60's/70's with monkeys, and they managed to keep entire heads alive with no body, and they'd be blinking and trying to move. Has nobody seen the documentary about the head transplant where they attatched a second head to a dog and both heads where alive?

In a TA mission it's speaking of 'pain sensors' on peewees too .. that wouldn't make sense if they weren't the peewees themselves

core=all minds in one computer (=one mind/brain)
arm=individual minds in cloned (or pimped up) bodys.

No there are no humans nor human spare parts inside of robots. They are needed in the Core fusion reactors, that's why they are (soylent) green (tm)

arm/core are the offspring of Skynet Don't ask me why they fought for 4K years, perhaps because arm wants to battle it in stealth mode while core insists bulkiness is better so there was nothing better to do than prove it

ARM is whole body, thats what got the whole war started.
Core sais: Hey all, lets put our brains in computer so we can be imortalz! lol

ARM sais: No wais! We wants to haves secks 'n stuffs!

ARM's point wins by default.

TBH the only real advantge of a brain is that it's smaller and takes less food. And how much more food does a buttonpressing battledriver need? Besides, the whole cause of the rebbleion was to KEEP their bodies... if they just wanted their brain, i doupht so many would join the cause.

Clones yes, but it was also mentioned in the OTA ARM campain that there were also plenty of non-clone ARM civilians. (read the mission briefing for ARM mission 4)

While u never see the civilians in-game, the point is that their very existence is confirmed by the game.

somewhere in the fluff about spidArZZ they mention how arm managed to intergrate human nervous systems with spider brains or something, i can't remember specifics but it was the reason they gave for arm having it and not core. Also, if they are full bodies, fidos would be DAMN uncomfortable exosuits, and well... fleas.. That said the flea could easily be controlled by remote telemetry or something.

So its mainly Skynet Vs. StarWars Clones ?

Well, they aren't exosuits, think about the scale of the game. The fidos and Trees are pretty close in size comparison (in both OTA and Spring) so one would have assume its more of a Battletech/EarthSiege style system, with a pilot in a cockpit. As for the spiders, think they would probably be using a genetically engineered nervous system intergrated with the motor control, not necissarily actually connected with the pilot. Anything that seperates the person from the body would go against ARM's reason for fighting the war.

What is with the little Spidys.. the selfsuicide bombys? Is there Place enough for a Dwarf ? Nobody should be seperated from his Body.
