Draw-me-do

I like to draw ocassionally
As you might notice, the style is a bit similar to that of EGS. This is mainly because I used the EGS sketch fillers to see how other people draw, erm, other people
The characters are my own.

Thanks be to ImageShack for hosting the images!

The last two guys seem to have a nail stuck in the back of their head.

Well it's better than anything I could draw, at least on the computer.

They're actually communication devices. They just have them in their other ear

I dunno, it seems a bit simple and pretty uncoordinated. TBH I don't think it's good at all, it looks like you can barely draw something but not very well.

You lose a lot in the colouring process. Plus the fact that I have to ink the damn things in via GIMP's airbrush tool, and you can see how things can start to get quite, quite bad...
(For comparison, here is the original, just scanned from my notebook image)

I'm thinking more about the proportions, they don't look that confident.
But yes, I can relate to the difficulties. I have a lot of trouble with drawing proper proportions as well and inking always looks shoddy when I do it. I know what I'm doing wrong with the proportions (not drawing the primitives first) but no idea what to do about the inking.
*cough* *ack* *wheeze*
That's why I prefer modeling, much easier to do. And with normalmaps I can hide my shoddy texturing pretty well.

I know the basics of proportion. The problem is angles, and getting the primitive shapes right.
To that end, I know have a posable mannequin. I have made two drawings with it, but the head looks a bit... off... in both of them (that's not a pun or anything - they just look a bit odd. Like they don't quite fit). I also can't be bothered to ink them on the computer (though I have one scanned in)

I like the drawings, though they do look a bit basic. And draw-me-too, can I put some of the doodles I did up here for comparison and critique (But mostly cuase I like to show off...)

At least mine are currently better than the boxy made-in-paint one I have for an avatar. As long as I'm actually improving, I'm happy.

HAIRY TITS, UGH!
I could submit one of the numerous bastardizations and drawings of a famous celebrity from 1944

but I'd rather not, might be better that way.
PS: My avatar was hand drawn (in PS) as well but I guess that doesn't count.

Have you tried using higher resolution when drawing those, GMN? At about 300, you shouldn't get the pixelization around the color borders.

I disagree, You gain alot in the coluring process, in fact I think colouring goes a long way toward covering mediocre drawing skills (i.e in my case

)

@FireCrack: The physical version was purged two years ago. It no longer exists in the real world. I thought it was weirdly unique, but meh. I built it and painted it up in less than 24 hours, if that makes you happier, because at the time I was promoting one of my earlier projects. I had to throw them all away two years ago, though, because I moved into a much smaller space, and could no longer store them.
@Warlord: Because I am never working on a project that could be taken down with a single C&D
