I have a Feature Request for this Forum - a Mostwanted List for Features, with a Vote/& or Rating System and a shortdescription for the Feature. This shouldn`t include Bugfixes. .. What do you think..? Would this Request would have a good Place on the List ?

Would probably be helpful for prospective developers looking to find out what's most wanted... +1

I just asked Tobi / Jelmer to make the new private developers sub-forum, once that is up mod devs can make there own list for there mod(s) in it.

I think the poitn is that it is public, and thus everyone can vote to indicate what features they think are most necessary/most wanted.

But, the obvious ones are always there, so it's not like the Devs don't know (ie: GUI, skeletal animation, etc)

The problem is that the public and modders want different features since most users don't see how Spring works beneath the surface and would ask for more things they could see immediately like GUI changes.

How abaout a Puplic and a Modder Vote... and the Moders Vote x2 in the List. How about Modders allowed to comment the Suggestions in One-Sentece-Critics...

Eh, I'd say for the most part the public and modders want similar things - they only diverge really once you get to the complicated details.

For example, I'd love to get skeletal animation for Spring, it would make the quality of Star Wars Spring infinitely better. However, I can quite clearly see that a functional GUI is far more important, as that is the biggest thing that is turning away potential SWS fans at the moment.

Once we have the 0.73b1 release "public" will mean quite a lot of new people.
Nothing wrong with new people but they don't have mods in active development or know how the Spring engine works.

[EDIT]This was a reply to Warlord Zsinj first post in this topic, (I'm a slow writer I guess)[/EDTI]

Mapping style modder forum FTW.

True, but a counter argument to that is that fresh eyes can bring quite a lot of insight to what is glaringly wrong with Spring that we who have been staring at it for the last couple of years can't see.

Given that it would be vote based and not post based, you wouldn't get too many "why can't I have an FPS cockpit!" because that wouldn't exist as an option. And, if it did exist as an option, and we had a huge number of votes for it, it would quite clearly express what the user base most wanted (unlikely, but you get the point).

Modders can more appropriately get their wishes across through thread-based discussion, where a point can be outlined, solutions suggested, discussion generated, etc, instead of just a faceless vote. Perhaps in an exclusive modder-forum, though I didn't really like the precedent created by the mapping forum, to be honest.
