What, like a Fractal Generator? Bryce has one, I guess with a lot of work you can code one for Upspring...
(Note: I have no idea what upspring does, but mappers refrence it a lot, so I'm guessing it's a part of the process.

This has already been discussed I think...It's not really feasible.

With the new map format coming out, random maps will be possible. But with the current format, it is just not feasable. Because the texture is just one giant bitmap, generating the texture to look half decent takes a few HOURS. Ingame/pregame random map generators are just not possible because of this.
However, as i stated above, with the new format, it might be possible. As this new format works with tiles, a huge texture does not need to be generated. There is a pretty good chance of some sort of random map generator coming out in the future for the new format.

There actually is something that can randomly do some prosedures of map making.

Random map generators are the doom of every talented map maker tbh... we've had this discussion before I think.

If a map maker can't make a better map than a random generator, I think that's a good indicator that he's not very talented. I'm sure there will always be a place for hand-crafted works of geographical art.
As an interim measure, perhaps some way to just randomize the metal map? I don't know how this is stored internally but it doesn't look like a complicated thing from the outside. Wouldn't work so well for maps with visible metal patches, of course, but nothing's perfect.
