team spectating

i would like to see this as an option: if someone dies, he can only watch the players of his team, the bases of the (former) enemies are then not visible to him. this way we could have spectating without betraying and we would have a still interesting game for the ones who are defeated before their teammates. they could still support their team by chatting with them but its no cheating cause they only would see what their team can see.

+1 is a good idea - but have a addition, it would be great if watching defeated teammembers could make chaincomandsuggestions (for example for building Buildings) that the still active Players just have to nodd approval on. That way they could support with Strategy, but don`t have to start a sense and useless attempt to recreate a Fraction, with one handed over conbot...

no... too complicated... just let them keep team chatting and adding map doodles to teamates and you get the same effect.

You might give the new spec a choice, continue with their team and only see what their team sees, or be muted and see everything.

All you have to do is simply not declare the player "dead" until his _alliance_ dies instead of his _team_. If the player is still "live" even though he has no units, he can still work as a teammate, and his teammates can give him units to manage if they like. He can still switch to spectate in the shift+esc menu.

I think the best solution is, as you say, to have the player not be declared "dead" until his team is dead... this opens up a can-o-worms discussions involving shared unit limits, effects of com-death=ends/ com-bombing exploits and the like... but otherwise it gives the basics of what is requested.

In addition to this we would need the ability to freely join/leave teams in mid-game.
This would make it possible that in team games when some player is blown away he could join a teammates team (if the teammate lets him do it) and then both of them can control the same units
