How has modding/ta spring ruined you?

Before you judge, no this is not about my life...
Modding (all parts of it as of yesterday) has screwed my KD ratio on Day of Defeat: Source... I used to (2-3 months ago, before I started modding) be able to score 5 kills, 1 death easily, now its almost the other way around...
How has modding ruined you?

How's this for irony. Before I started modding, I was an uncommonly good TA player. Now I play so rarely because I'm always working on the game, that I suck at it.

i like modding. If i would have much more time, i would mod much more too. Creating stuff that works and looks good is awesome, especially if people like it and play it.
But i think that modders should play their own mods very often too. I do so and therefore i get a lot of feedback and see whats wrong or not. No need to say, that all modders should love to play their own mods. I for example could never make a mod, whoch i wouldnt like to play.
Also modding is a very good motivation to learn different programs (like 3dsmax, photosohp, scriptor, and much more).
When i was jounger and played different games, i always dreamed of my own ubermegasuper game and modding makes this dream a bit more real.
I can say that i m very happy, that i started to make mods and i would do it again.

Yeah, when I hear about all the great names in TA, yours always comes up, near the top of the list.
Got any more super units for us to play with?

I beat the BAI on hard in ota once. Does that count?

About as much as beating a speedmetal AA player in XTA on small divide.

Not really, there are a few tricks you can use that it just can't compensate for.

It's quite possible that the quality of the DoD competition has gone up. I used to be very good at Counter Strike in 2001ish. But once all the 15 year olds got broadband and started playing 12 hours aday my ability soon paled by comparison.

I was never good at playing games or modding... just a natural ability to learn and remember things easily... I have a friend who is unemployed and lives in his mom's back room and codes/mods/plays games 10-20 hours a day... when it's an Online game that he is playing, it can naturally be assumed that he is going to be better and more advanced then most other players... he was, for example, after a week playing it, in the top 10 players on an Online version of 3D light cycles... it's just natural that people with more time to do these things are going to be better at them then even those with excellent raw talent... again... I could have sworn I had a point before typing... this is why no-one reads my blog...

It ruined me in terms of having time for other games. Now when I see a game in a store I think "Naah, you're going to play Spring anyway", or more exactly, "play around with Spring" since I don't play any actual games either, I'm so busy making content. But since I'm an information addict I don't actually have less time for other games, I just waste slightly less time on Slashdot.

Well, it killed MMORPG's for me, but I don't really see that as a negative.
