I really hope that TA Spring uses XTA as the 'default patch' for TA: Spring. Atlantai said that it was going to be. XTA Roxxors!! Can I please get this confirmed?

Thanks for you help,
Wing

Its what they use with it. Its also made by them, but bundling it with spring will just add unecissary sizer for those using other mods.

I don't want too know if it comes with it, I want to know if XTA is what TA: Spring uses by default.

If you start TA: Spring, without enabling any mods, what will you be playing?

XTA XTA XTA XTA
it's been said 3 times already. Should be clear by now.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.

But everyone kept saying:

"Well XTA comes with TA:S"
or
"Well TA:S is bundled with TA:S"

I'm sorry but both of those answers are indefinite.

If you were ordering a computer, and I were too say, "Well your computer comes with a motherboard."

And then you asked, "Well is it installed?"

And I said, "Well, it's bundled in with it."

I think you would be a little confused.

My question was, "Will XTA be the default patch used for TA:S?" (meaning that v3.1 and UberHack and such would be 'mods'). And the answers I got were, "Well, it comes with it."

See what I mean?

Any content bundled with spring will be XTA, you will still need OTA content to fill in the gaps, and when we mean bundled, the way TA works si it's either present int he fodler or it isnt, there's no lengthy installation procedure in spring or TA to install unit files, just plonk them in the same dir

YES THEY ARE RIKER. We have told you hundreds of times Riker. Thus XTA will have those models incorporated into it.

And will you unblock me god dammit on msn. Just because I said America won WW2 by dropping nuclear weaponry on Japan like the books and TV says doesnt mean you have to block me. Though I will make a note never to talk about history or the russians again.

all this XTA crap is confussing me. i only played OTA and thats pritty much it. i never go to know the whole TA mod scene very well. thats why all ur acronyms mean nothingto me. next you will be saying that americans won at stalingrad, kursk, berlin and that manchuria was liberated by americans.

Basically, the dudes went to the files where the units are defined (how they behave, how much life they have, how much damage they give, etc) and rebalanced stuff.

Added a little damage to this gun, lessened the damage on that gun, made this unit stronger, made this unit weaker, etc.

To the new set of files defining the rebalanced units, they called XTA.

So, you can think of the XTA units pack as the original TA's units but slightly changed.

right now you can *only* use XTA, which comes with spring. With knowledge of spring's underlyings you can add units and maps of your own, or other packs. This will definitely change in the future, when the lobby supports unit and map syncing.

But we saw it working earlier with swta, aa and a few others? What are you saying here jouninkomiko?

Think through your answer carefully for fear of bodily harm.

You guys didn├óÔé¼Ôäót really think that TA:S would work well, if at all with all the third party units available did you? lol I could have told you month ago that that was highly unlikely. I highly suspect that parts of many scripts will have to be rewritten.

I don't appreciate you making this a personal attack forum against Atlantai. He has his own opinion about History as do you. Please stop.

I don't think I want to get involved in any of this debate on what actually happened in history... but why is such discussion bleeding into this part of the forum, excluding what was in Alantai's post. (Though that would have been better said in a PM)

Longaxe, I have never yet seen ANY irrepairable problems with running the mods and 3rd party units I have. Yes, TA:FF has problems related to the weird naming of the unit files ("Norton Commando", for example, the Core Dragon. Spring tries to search for Norton.3do), and some minor issues with stability (although it's not completely mod-related), but I've been able to play it, all the same.

Riker, I get my information and knowledge on history from sources such as school textbooks, and documentarys on channels such as discovery and so on. Yes the americans won the war against japanand thus ended ww2 by dropping atomic weapons on japans southern cities, namely nagasaki and hiroshima. And no the americans did not liberate manchuria which at the time was russian territory, wait a sec wasnt all the other places occupied by russians or shared with russians? Are you russian riker? You post links to russian military forums, you had general zhukov as your display pic on msn and know things of soviet russias history......
