The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) shindig has been a staple of game industry life since the mid-1990s. However, we understand the larger exhibitors have jointly decided that the costs of the event do not justify the returns, generally measured in media exposure.
Publishers believe the multi-million dollar budgets would be better spent on more company-focused events that bring attention to their own product lines rather than the industry as a whole.
Well placed sources say the news that larger exhibitors were pulling out had prompted urgent meetings among publishing executives. They decided that, without the support of the larger software publishers and hardware manufacturers, there would be no point in continuing.
Hmm... Let me get this straight. Here's the sequence of events:
Stampede to Nintendo booth
Lineup for Nintendo booth is so long that those at the back when the doors open never got to the actual booth
Sony lineup peak was 30 minutes wait, generally bombed

Don't get me wrong, but this article does not list any sources that make me believe this is more than a stupid attention gatherer.

Yeah it's just a rumour, but a scary one. It's hard to believe they'd cancel E3, if I had the cash, a car, a passport, and something to defend myself from the mobs of women who want me, I'd go to E3 for sure.

I always wanted a tranquilizer gun. Though pistol-forms is best - you can go into a store without people thinking it's a raid, which makes a nice change (no pun intended).

You know if you DONT put "no pun intended" then half the time I won't get it. Now that you HAVE put it there, I'm going to spend hours and hours trying to figure it out and just get incredibly annoyed.

we do have entire genres that seem to work specifically for us PC gamers. RTS'on consoles just arent the same......

Anyways, Sony fails regardless, the PS3 gets hot enough to melt the case in poor ventilation, and it uses 1.2 KW of power to run. Thats the same as a PC with Intel extreme edition and dual 7900GTXs. The PC therefore is superier for the same energy useage.
