Well, people requested, so I post some screens of Spring in action, even though they're not as beautiful as they could be.

A small set of Drones defences to demonstrate row building. That was 5 clicks.

That's a Bantha wrecking havoc on EDF soldiers. They aren't doing too well...

Some more of the same. They still didn't scratch it.

My horde of 100ish Avengers and Rapiers rammed the front gate of this Core base. Which was established by myself and given to my enemy.

More of the same.

This wing of Avengers got particularly lucky. They will be the only ones to reach a wall of Buzzsaws in the next few seconds.

"Heavy base defence" almost sounds as an understatement...

Oops... there goes a radar... only 14 left...

Utter chaos...

The Rapiers are all but gone, but are still pounding the defences.

That's what was left of the front lines after the attack... and a new one is coming!!!

Rangers lead the way!

...and die in glorious puffs of smoke... those Buzsaws aren't just for show...

Who stirred up the crows nest?

I challenge you to count the number of Shadow bombers on this screenshot.
Well, that's about it for now. Enjoy.

Shade's post pretty much sums up my feelings.
It's just unbelievable.

woah... *drowns in a pile of drool*
... Favourite part of the screenshots: Watching the AA ammo shoot up at the cloud of aircraft above it.
... Those poor freakers really need knee joints...
EDIT: Just out of curiosity, how much did things slow down with all that action going on? And what PC are you running on?

BlackLiger, you are wrong. Anyone else?
My PC is... well.. P4 2.0, 256Mb, GF4Ti4800SE. That "SE" bit cost me the shadows.
Things were happening at about 15 FPS at 1.0 speed, but I was watching at 0.1 to see all the cool stuff.
And no, I'm not on of the SY, but you can praise them, nevertheless.

I'm not really technically proficient enough to interpret how 15 frames per second effects the game. I know television standards are something like 24 FPS...
Was it running fine? Or was it running poorly?
... Most importantly, with that many units, was it playable?

I can say that for me, smooth, comfortable play is at 30 FPS.
It becomes unplayable when you amass like... 500 gunships and attack a single target. THEN it becomes unplayable, for me at least. Slows down to 0.1 FPS and lower... I need more RAM.
So, to sum it up, a mass aircraft attack with 100 planes against like... 200 defensive fortifications plays fine. If you don't overcharge the time accelerator (to 40, 60, 80, etc) with that many units, you won't get a lock-up.
Btw, at 0.1-0.3 speed it was very smooth, around 30-40 FPS.

the human eye cand etect anythign less than 25 fps as a single frame, anythign hgiher blurs into motion. though it is approximately ehnce why tv is 24fps.
For those fo you who where wondering why it jumps from screen 3- screen6.jpg or somethin like that, the extra pics are hosted int he same place so fiddle with the url, though they look pretty much the same and the bantha attacking EDF troops.
hint: try using the info in the screenshot at the bottom left and a little mathematical trickery.

You forgot to mention using the info on the screenshot in the top left for exact values of mathematical trickery.

you can see more than 25fps... tv is interlaced to give the impression of a higher fps,
this pretty much sums it up

I am obligated to point out how beautifully close Sean's screens look to the OTA intro movie where the bombers strike at the line of berthas.

The bombers struck the line of intimidators, not berthas, and killed a core laser tower. But that's besides the point. The second to last screen shot was amazing, with all the bombers flying around. Whoa.
Also something about aircrafts: the avengers seemed much more detailed, especially the underside.

No wonder, they are my personal design. :)
You should have seen the things they do when dogfighting... when one manuevers down to ground at low speed, he folds wings and fires ventral thrusters to keep lift, then, once accelerated, fires the main thruster and unfolds wings. I want to make an even more detailed version, since these seem to work quite fine.

http://metawire.org/~firestar/forums/im ... creen3.jpg - is that a custom sprite explosion?
And some of those fighters have fire out the back and others (like the bombers) don't...are they low on health or is that with the new Spring code?

Those are high-poly TA units with fancy scripts.

1) Where did you get them?
2) Where can I get them?
