Huge TASpring Map Pack [3 Files 2.something gigs]

****Today (8/22/06)*** I've requested that Noize (thanks btw!) remove this thread from sticky and from the topic in #main.I haven't had any luck finding a new hosting location. If you know of an acceptable one, do tell. (Remember it needs to accept atleast 500meg files.)

**** Today (8/9/06) I was going to upload more recent map packs.. Unfortunately now yousendit.com only accepts files up to 100 megs (previously it was 1 gig) ****
So if you know another free hosting service that can host files up to a gig (or atleast 500 megs) post it here. Or else this concept is somewhat doomed (unless the torrent file gets created, even that will be another week or two from completion)

Alright AFIAK these three files contain almost all the spring maps that existed (as of a couple of weeks ago). Altogether it is around 2.4 gigs.

This was created because some newer users would rather leave their computer on all night downloading three files rather than having to hunt down the url for each map they play.

Most likely this will not be updated in the future since I'm spending time organizing unknown-files.net's spring map archive. There is a possibility though...

Good! No more having to dl every single one, and getting lots of duplicates.

Does it include the concept maps that nobody plays? (thinking Maze here)

No maze :( I've surely missed some along the way. When I find maps that were not included I'll add them to the packs for the next time I upload an updated version (maybe a week, or less).

Do I have to extract the file or can I just put the it in the maps directory? :P
Stupid question probably.

its
TASpring\maps\SmallDivide.sd7 and so on

So if he uploaded a .zip or .rar or something you will have to unzip them

I'm not going to DL it because to me the HDD space is worth more then the convenience. That being said, if you don't value your HDD space much there's really no down side...

the first loadup of the spring lobby after I copied the maps into the maps folder took a while, even when I already had like half of them

ACK!

Yeah! I want those maps!

It's kinda funny because I just deleted my maps folder which was filled with duplicates, and then was going to download this. Now I have 0 maps.

I think it would be better to have a smaller map packs with about 20-30 quality maps rather than just everything thrown in. Perhaps have all the ota maps in one pack? Or all from a particular author who happens to produce a fair few good maps. We could use FU stats to work out whats popular and stick them in a pack.
This way folk can pick and choose a wee bit more and get good maps in a relatively small space all very convieniently. No downsides i can see here.

Oh, and on a side note has anyone made or is making a remake of moon quartet yet? Damn good ota map :D

omg that site pops up offering a lot of malware... And, of course, files have expired. A torrent would be lovely.
