Spring in a window

Is it possible to run in a window rather than full-screen?
Can it be done so it is always in a window, even if launched through the lobby (bug-fixing experiment)

look in settings.exe (bottom right corner somewhere...)

call spring.exe \w from a command line. That makes it run in windowed mode. To make it launch from the lobby like that would be more difficult. I suppose you could rename spring.exe, make a shortcut to it, rename that spring.exe, and in the shortcut options, make it give \w as a command line argument.

Uncheck the check box saying Run Fullscreen in the settings dialog. You can access it in the lobby by going to options and selecting Game Options in the program tab.

That's buggy though, it has a tendency to crash out a lot with exceptions.

ORLY?
not for me, in fact windowed is less buggy then fullscreen for me. ( windowed allows me to alt-tab)

Same. In fact, Spring runs better for me in Windowed mode than full-screen, I don't know why but I get better FPS, even if the settings are the exact same. The only problem I have with windowed mode is when 3d trees are activated: if I alt+tab out, or another window pops up or activates on its own (like lobby PMs), then it screws up the trees when the game loads. Really annoying, that little thing is!

I personally just hit the little Windows key instead of Alt+Tab and that works perfectly for me in fullscreen. However, windowed never seems to work out. Trees bug, units start firing into nothing, and there is always a final crash.

I get very very evil things when I alt tab. The entire skybox and all of the relections get corrupted, so it becomes painful to look at.

you get better FPS because your graphics card is not calculating as many pixels

Well, it was worth a shot. Windowed did work, but the random-quitting-bug remained

Hi, i have had many problems with random quitting, and have come up with a bunch of solutions. these are what i have worked out so far
Random Quitting bug fixes:
Quit Object Dock
Don't use the ETA Group AI
Make sure Case is cool (take off side panel or such)
Uninstall and delete all duplicate installed versions, and re-install.

A bug in ETA AI is fixed in rc22, with exception handlign added to catch any further unanticipated bugs altho they're unlikely to occur if they even exist which is even more unlikely.
