Problems with hosting...

I used to be able to host fine, up until a day ago. Yesterday I had a short (5 minute) power outtage. After that I was not able to host at all.

My computer is connected to a gigabit switch, which is connected to a Lynksys wrt54g wirless router which is connected to a modem, which is connected to the internet.

My computer has a static ip address, it was set up and working before. I have opened the port in windows firewall, so thats not the problem.

I think that the power outtage somehow screwed up the settings on the router. Anybody know if the wrt54g's store their settings in ram? (if they do that would suck). I also tried unplugging then replugging the router and that did not fix it. I am not the one who set up the settings so I do not know the password for the router.

Anybody have suggestions to fix this? Thankns!

If the outage is ALL that happened between then and then...then yah, I think the power outage fried somthing.

Disconnect the router, install some better security software than Window's firewall and connect directly to the internet.

See if it works. If it does, you just found the problem, which should be the FIRST thing you do.

I'm guessing you had port forwarding set up on the router, and have lost these settings.
